THREE STARS: Offensive Outburst Ends Three-Game Weekend
Erie, Pennsylvania – In a thrilling three-game week, the Erie Otters brought in two victories in classic Erie heart-pounding fashion.
At home against the Guelph Storm, the Otters kept the home crowd waiting with bated breath before putting the game to bed in a shootout and winning 4-3.
On the road against the Brampton Steelheads, the Otters were unable to battle back after eight unanswered goals and would fall 10-3.
Back at home against the Sudbury Wolves, Erie put down the visitors with a 7-4 final.
Here are the players who made this week happen.
THIRD STAR – GABRIEL FRASCA
First-year Otter Gabriel Frasca had quite the night on Saturday!
With his first three-point game, Frasca nabbed the first goal of the game and two additional assists to propel the Otters to a 7-4 victory. At the 5:41 mark in the first period, Frasca broke the deadlock and began what would end up being a five-goal first period. After picking up his eleventh goal of the season, Frasca and Wesley Royston teamed up twice to set up first Tyler Challenger in the second period and Malcolm Spence in the third. With his three-point night, Frasca earned Third Star honors.
SECOND STAR – PANO FIMIS
With two goals and one assist against the Sudbury Wolves, Pano Fimis earned First Star honors on Saturday!
Fimis lent a helping hand in the first period to Dylan Edwardsto extend the Otters lead 3-1, but it was in the third period that Fimis became truly dangerous. In 72 seconds, Fimis scored back-to-back goals to send the Sudbury Wolves home with their tails between their legs.
FIRST STAR – MARTIN MISIAK
Everything Martin Misiak touched this week turned to gold! With seven points (2G+5A), Marty is this week’s First Star.
Against the Guelph Storm, Misiak snatched two assists, the first on a power play opportunity in the second period to cut the Guelph lead to 3-2, and the second in the third period to force the game into overtime.
On the road against the Steelheads, Misiak found Carey Terrance for the second time on the week to tie the game up at 1-1. Over halfway into the third and final frame, Misiak scored his fifteenth goal of the season.
Back at home in the final game of the week, Marty exploded with a three-point game. Misiak found the back of the net six minutes into the first period to pull the Otters ahead 2-1. In the third period, Misiak found Pano Fimis twice in the span of 72 seconds to give the Otters a final score of 7-4.
Four games in six days await Erie!
On Wednesday, the Otters will play the Niagara IceDogs at home at 7 P.M.
After a day of rest on Thursday, they’ll hit the road for back-to-back games against the Owen Sound Attack on Friday and Saturday before they finish their week in Oshawa against the Generals on Monday for Family Day in Canada.
