THREE STARS: Nothing Regular About These Stars
Erie, Pennsylvania – The regular season came to a roarin’ end at the Erie Insurance Arena last weekend.
Starting on the road with a 6-4 loss against the Guelph Storm, the Erie Otters still weren’t able to turn it around at home against the Ottawa 67’s, where they fell 7-1.
However, in the final game of the regular season, in front of a nearly sold-out home crowd, the Otters defeated the London Knights in thrilling fashion, pulling off a 6-4 upset, thanks to a three-goal third period.
Here are the players who made this week happen.
THIRD STAR – GABRIEL FRASCA
A three point week for our Third Star, Gabriel Frasca!
On the road against the Guelph Storm, Frasca earned Second Star honors for his one goal and one assist in the 6-4 loss. Frasca picked up an assist on the first goal of the game just five minutes into the period. Halfway through the second frame, Frasca found the back of the net himself to put the Otters up 3-1 before they would eventually fall.
Against the London Knights at home, Frasca capped off his regular season with a goal in the second period to put the Otters up 2-1. Frasca’s goal, the first of two unanswered Erie goals in four minutes, helped sway the game’s momentum firmly into Erie’s possession.
SECOND STAR – PANO FIMIS
Pano Fimis is making his overage year one to remember!
With an assist on the only Erie goal of the night against the Ottawa 67’s, Fimis had himself a quiet night before having himself quite the night on Sunday against the London Knights.
Fimis picked up his second assist of the week on the opening goal of the game, where he and Malcolm Spence found Dylan Edwards to give Erie the first lead of the night. Adding to his already impressive list of stats, Fimis also scored the final Erie goal of the 2024-25 regular season – an empty netter from distance to secure the 6-4 win in the final two minutes.
FIRST STAR – MARTIN MISIAK
The final First Star of the 2024-25 regular season belongs to none other than Martin Misiak! Another one of Erie’s beloved overagers, Misiak picked up a total of four points in three games for the Otters.
Misiak opened the scoring against the Guelph Storm on the road, finding the back of the net for a 1-0 lead just five minutes into the game.
At home against the London Knights, the Marty Party continued with three assists. Misiak had a hand in two straight goals, assisting both Gabriel Frasca and Kayden Edwards in the span of four minutes to give Erie a 2-1 and 3-1 lead. No goal is more important than the game-winner, and – of course – Misiak had a hand in that one too. With the help of Dylan Edwards, rookie Oliver Phillips was able to pick up his first OHL goal and give the Otters the dub.
It’s what you’ve all been waiting for folks – it’s playoff hockey (pres. by Rebich Investments).
Our best-of-seven series against the Saginaw Spirit kicks off on Thursday on the road. The Otters will play Game 2 of the series again at Saginaw, with both games set to begin at 7:05 P.M.
Regardless of the outcome on the road, the Otters will return to the Erie Insurance Arena for games on Tuesday and Thursday. Both games are slated to commence at 7 P.M., and we’ll need your help to fill the EIA!
