THREE STARS: In the Playoffs? You Otter Believe It!
Erie, Pennsylvania – For the second season in a row, the Erie Otters have clinched a playoff berth!
With Friday night’s 4-1 win over the Owen Sound Attack, the Otters officially secured themselves a postseason run, but they doubled down and earned their third win in a row on Saturday with a 7-3 victory over the Attack to finish out the weekend (and season) series.
Here are the players who made this week happen.
THIRD STAR – GARRETT FRAZER
What a game to score your first OHL goal!
Garrett Frazer picked up his very first goal on Friday night against the Owen Sound Attack. Frazer’s goal, the night’s final goal and the cherry on top of a 4-1 victory, lent a hand in securing the Otters’ spot in the 2024-25 playoffs!
SECOND STAR – TYLER CHALLENGER
Back-to-back game winning goals for Tyler Challenger!
On Friday, after a scoreless first period and the tying goal in the second, Challenger struck early in the third frame for what would end up being the game-winner.
Challenger nabbed Saturday’s game winner in the second period. Challenger’s goal put the Otters up 4-1, and after weathering a brief Attack surge, would stand as the game-winner as the Otters would go on to win 7-3.
FIRST STAR – MALCOLM SPENCE
Malcolm Spence is getting greedy with goals!
Spence picked up his twenty-seventh goal of the season on Friday to put the Otters up 3-1, but would truly erupt on Saturday.
With two goals and two assists, Spence earned First Star honors on Saturday. Spence opened the scoring more than halfway through the first period and would pick up an assist two minutes later on a shorthanded pass to Sam Alfano. Spence would be involved in the third goal in a row in the second period, finding the back of the net himself on another shorthanded opportunity. Spence would find his final point of the night on the final goal of the game, when he and Martin Misiak would find Pano Fimis on the powerplay to give the Otters a 7-3 victory.
What better way to celebrate making the playoffs than a four-game week!
