Otters Show Resilience, Come Back to Win 6-5 in OT
FLINT, MI – The Erie Otters headed to Flint on Saturday evening to take on the Firebirds. Flint pulled ahead early with goals from Fedor Gordeev and Ty Dellandrea. Petr Cajka responded for Erie, but the teams would ultimately trade goals with scoring coming from Durham and Dellandrea(2) for Flint and Kurtis Henry for Erie. The Otters headed to the intermission down 4-2 after one.
In the second, Gera Poddubnyi found the back of the net to make it a one goal game. Alex Gritz followed suit and tied the game for Erie, but Flint forward Jack Phibbs pulled the Firebirds ahead once again with a goal in the final minute of the period.
In the third period, Erie continued to press until the last minute, when Peter Cajka found the back of the net to tie the game with only nine seconds on the clock. In overtime, Otters’ rookie defensemen Jamie Drysdale showed why the team took him fourth overall in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection when he accelerated up the ice and scored a dazzler to win the game for the Otters.
The Otters will return home on Friday night where they will take on the Flint Firebirds again at 7:00PM.
