LAST TIME OUT
On Wednesday, the Erie Otters would play the annual Teddy Bear Toss game. An early goal would send the bears flying as they clawed out an overtime game against the Owen Sound Attack before falling 3-2 to walk away with a point.
After being hit by a record-breaking blizzard, Erie only played one game last week. Otters fans will have to wait to see the Flint Firebirds at home!
WHO TO WATCH
Under the bright lights of the EIA, Martin Misiak made it rain teddy bears on Wednesday. With the first Otters’ goal against Owen Sound, Misiak found his eighth goal of the season and sent the crowd into a frenzy.
Another of Erie’s heroes on Wednesday night was Gabriel Frasca. The first-year Otter found his second power-play goal of the season in the second period to tie the game up 2-2. Frasca’s goal would lead the Otters into overtime and ensure they left the game with at least one point.
KNOW THE FOE
The North Bay Battalion won their only game last week with a 3-2 final score against the Soo Greyhounds – after the first game of the weekend was, familiarly, postponed due to a blizzard. Players to watch for the Battalion include Jacob LeBlanc, with two assists in the victory, and Ethan Procyszyn, with two goals including a power play game-winner in the game’s final seconds.
The Sudbury Wolves split last week with a 4-3 overtime loss against the Barrie Colts and a 5-3 victory over the Colts as well. Players to watch for the Wolves include Kieron Walton, who grabbed three goals and three assists across both games, and Alex Pharand, who scored once in Sudbury’s OT loss and again in their victory as well as picking up an assist.
The Brampton Steelheads have been on a five-game winning streak since their 7-4 loss against the Erie Otters. Players to watch for the Steelheads include Luke Misa, who scored a goal and had an assist in Friday’s win against the Sarnia Sting and had another three assists against the Saginaw Spirit on Saturday, and Jakub Fibigr, who had four assists against the Spirit.
