NWPA AHEC WEEKEND PREVIEW: Erie Closes Road Swing to Return Home for Holiday Fun
Erie, Pennsylvania – It’s a two-in-three weekend for the Otters, and they’ll split it between the road and home-sweet-home.
The Otters will travel to Windsor on Thursday to play the Spitfires for the second time this season. The last time these two teams met in October, the Otters downed the Spitfires 6-3 in Erie.
On Saturday, the Otters will return to the Erie Insurance Arena for the first time since November 27 – 17 days! – and they’ll take on Saginaw Spirit at 7 P.M.

LAST TIME OUT
It was a week of extra frames as two of Erie’s three games went into OT.
Their first game of the week, on Thursday against the North Bay Battalion, saw the Otters claw out a 4-3 victory just over two minutes into the extra period.
With a win under their belt, the Otters moved on to Sudbury where they fell 5-2.
Finally, the Otters finished off their week on Sunday against the Brampton Steelheads. In another four-frame game, the Otters put it to bed 41 seconds in and walked away with a 5-4 win.

It’s a Winter Wonderland Night in Erie!
In the final Saturday game before the holiday break, fans can enjoy a specialty balloon and light display by Rubber Ducky Balloon Designs, and the lucky first 1500 to enter the arena will receive a FREE Player Ornament Set! Don’t forget – this is a great opportunity to meet Santa Claus and The Grinch, as well!
All fans are also encouraged to bring newly packaged socks for men, women, and children to throw onto the ice during intermission. All socks will be donated to support Community Shelter Services.
WHO TO WATCH
Malcolm Spence is wracking up the accolades! An ‘A’ rated NHL draft prospect and now named to the OHL Top Prospects Game, Spence earned four goals and one assist in three games, including the overtime game-winner against the Brampton Steelheads.
KNOW THE FOE
The Windsor Spitfires split last week with a 3-2 shootout loss to the Kitchener Rangers on Saturday and a 6-4 victory over the Saginaw Spirit on Sunday. Players to watch for the Spitfires include Jack Nesbitt, who scored one goal and three assists in two games, and Ilya Protas, with two goals and two assists across the weekend.
The Saginaw Spirit also split last week, with a commanding 6-1 win over the Oshawa Generals and losing 6-4 to the Spitfires. Players to watch for the Spirit include Calem Magnone, who scored a hat trick against Oshawa as well as having an assist against the Spitfires, and Michael Misa, with two goals and four assists on the weekend.
