NW PA AHEC WEEKEND PREVIEW: Feeling the February Love
Erie, Pennsylvania – It’s a four-game week for the Erie Otters and they’ll spend the majority of it on the road!
On Wednesday, the Otters have their first and only home game of the week against the Niagara IceDogs. The Otters will spend Valentine’s Day on the road with a back-to-back series against the Owen Sound Attack on Friday and Saturday. The Otters will finish their week on Monday for Family Day against the Oshawa Generals with a projected 2:05 puck drop.

LAST TIME OUT
Nothing came easy for the Otters, but they fought tooth and nail for two wins on a three-game week.
They scrapped out a 4-3 shootout victory over the Guelph Storm on home ice before traveling to play the Brampton Steelheads. At the CAA Centre, the Otters fell in a disappointing 10-3 final but returned home to finish the week against the Sudbury Wolves.
Against the Wolves, the Otters ended their week on a high with a 7-4 win.
AROUND THE ARENA
It’s Wednesday night hockey at the Erie Insurance Arena! As a pre-Valentine’s Day treat, you and that special someone can take advantage of BOGO tickets for the only home game this week before the Otters hit the road.
WHO TO WATCH
Martin Misiak exploded offensively with seven points in the last three games! Against the Guelph Storm, Misiak began his week with two assists to help guide the Otters into a shootout. On the road, Misiak picked up another assist as well as his fifteenth goal of the season. Against the Sudbury Wolves, Misiak grabbed another goal to give the Otters a 2-1 lead in the first period, and had back-to-back assists in the third period to secure the win.
Pano Fimis picked up three points against the Sudbury Wolves on Saturday night. After an assist in the first period, Fimis exploded with two goals in 72 seconds to put the game to bed and see the Otters through to victory.
KNOW THE FOE
The Niagara IceDogs, having most recently lost 9-1 to the Kitchener Rangers, are looking to end a four-game losing streak. Players to watch for the IceDogs include Ryan Roobroeck, who picked up four points (2G+2A) in the last four games, and Sean Doherty, who nabbed a hat trick against the Barrie Colts earlier in the month two more goals in consecutive games.
The Owen Sound Attack lost two of their last three games, beating the North Bay Battalion and losing to the Kitchener Rangers and the Kingston Frontenacs. Players to watch for the Attack include Landen Hookey, with three goals and four assists across his last three games, and Pierce Mbuyi, who had a hat trick against the Kitchener Rangers and three additional assists against the Battalion and the Frontenacs.
The Oshawa Generals won their last three games, most recently shutting out the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 6-0. Players to watch for the Generals include goaltender Jacob Oster, who allowed only three goals in three games and had 55 saves including a shutout, and Calum Ritchie, with a hat trick against

After a week spent mostly on the road, the Otters will enjoy a three-game home stint.
On Friday, the Otters will play the Oshawa Generals – but that isn’t all! It’s Family Game Night and a 3-2-1 Friday, so while fans are enjoying $3 Labatt Blue Light drafts, $2 hot dogs, and $1 popcorn, they can participate in Minute-to-Win-it Games and Showcase Showdowns!
Saturday is Erie’s highly anticipated Star Wars Night (pres. by The Millcreek Mall) against the London Knights of Ren. The Force will be strong in the Erie Insurance Arena as the galaxy’s greatest heroes and worst villains come to town, and the first 1500 fans to enter the arena will receive FREE LED Foam Glowsticks to channel their inner Jedi. The Otters will take to the ice wearing specialty “Star Wars” themed warm-up jerseys that will be auctioned off-post game to benefit the United Way of Erie County.
The Otters will finish their week on Monday night against the Flint Firebirds at home for the final home game of February.
