Erie Completes Trade with Owen Sound
Saginaw, Michigan – Erie Otters General Manager Dave Brown announced today that the team has acquired defenseman Luke Beamish from the Owen Sound Attack in exchange for forward Cade Robinson.
Beamish, a 5’10”, 166-pound defenseman from Mississauga, Ontario, was originally selected by Owen Sound 51st overall in the third round of the 2016 OHL Priority Selection. The 17-year-old has appeared in 32 career OHL games, tallying three assists and two penalty minutes. In 2017 he helped the Georgetown Raiders to their first Buckland Cup as Ontario Junior Hockey League champions.
In exchange for Beamish, Owen Sound received forward Cade Robinson. Selected 211th overall in the 11th round of the 2016 OHL Priority Selection, Robinson has appeared in 82 games with the Otters over the last two seasons. In the current campaign, the 6’1”, 198-pound winger netted his first OHL goal, tallying six goals and 12 assists in 38 games played. The Jackson, Michigan native has accumulated 20 points over 82 career games played with Erie.
“First off, the Erie Otters thank Cade for his dedication and hard work that he put in with our organization,” General Manager Dave Brown stated, “and we wish him the best in his hockey career and future. Luke was a player the scouting staff and I were quite high on in his draft year. He’s a very mobile defender with great offensive instincts and possesses an excellent puck moving ability. We’re excited to watch Luke grow with our group in Erie.”
