Sault St. Marie opened the scoring this time around, thanks to a nifty goal from Marco Mignosa in front of the net on the powerplay to give the Greyhounds the 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Greyhounds continued their momentum in the second. A point shot from defenceman Chase Reid found its way past London\u2019s Sebastian Gatto to double the Sault St. Marie lead.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Knights managed to end the Greyhounds goal streak before the 40 minute mark, as Braiden Clark redirected a shot from Jaxon cover to beat Sault St. Marie goaltender Carter George, cutting the deficit in half.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It took London just 1 minute and 23 seconds to level the scoring in the third. A clean breakout from Andoni Fimis kickstarted an Evan Van Gorp breakaway, who was stopped, but Linus Funck cleaned up the rebound for the Knights second of the game.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Both goaltenders shut the door for the remaining 18:37, forcing overtime to decide the winner of game 2 of the series.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It took 19 minutes and 34 seconds to declare a winner, as Sault St. Marie\u2019s 43rd shot of the game, courtesy of Captain Brady Martin, found the back of the net.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The overtime winner gives the Greyhounds a 2-0 series lead over the Knights<\/span><\/p>\n

Following another 40 win season, the Knights strong second half of the season earned them home-ice advantage on the final day of the OHL regular season following a Greyhounds loss to the Windsor Spitfires on Sunday evening.<\/p>\n

Victoria, BC \u2013 The Victoria Royals and London Knights have announced the \u201cClash of the Kingdoms\u201d series, a special two-game showcase featuring the Western Hockey League\u2019s Victoria Royals and\u00a0current\u00a0defending Memorial Cup Champions, London Knights. The series will take place Friday, September 4 at 7:00 PM and Saturday, September 5 at 4:00 PM at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria, BC.<\/div>\n

The \u201cClash of the Kingdoms\u201d series will mark the first-ever inter-league meeting between WHL and OHL clubs outside of the Memorial Cup tournament, bringing together two prominent Canadian Hockey League programs for a one of a kind early-season event.<\/div>\n

\u201cHosting this series in Victoria will create an outstanding atmosphere for our players and fans while highlighting the level of talent across the Canadian Hockey League,\u201d said Joey Poljanowski, Vice-President of Hockey Operations for the Victoria Royals. \u201cThis event will give our community a great platform to celebrate junior hockey and experience something truly unique. The London Knights will arrive in Victoria this fall following two straight championship seasons in 2024 and 2025.<\/div>\n

While the series is expected to feature several top NHL prospects, it will also\u00a0showcase\u00a0a matchup between two of junior hockey\u2019s most prominent coaches, Dale Hunter and James Patrick. Both Hunter and Patrick played over 1,200 National Hockey League games during their playing careers and have been instrumental in the development of some of the Canadian Hockey League\u2019s best alumni now playing in the NHL.<\/div>\n

In addition to the on-ice action, the weekend will feature an outdoor Fan Fest including live music, outdoor\u00a0games\u00a0and\u00a0additional\u00a0activities around the arena.<\/div>\n

    London opened the scoring in the first, as Evan Van Gorp found the back of the net after 3 consecutive rebounds.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Guelph challenged the goal for offside, but was unsuccessful and received a bench minor. On the resulting Knights powerplay, Jaxon Cover found William Nicholl on the doorstep for Nicholl\u2019s 12th of the season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Just 91 seconds after London\u2019s second goal, the Knights drew another powerplay, cashing in on a Henry Brzustewicz point shot for London\u2019s third goal in the first six minutes of play.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    After just eight minutes of play, London had 12 shots and 3 goals. Guelph however, had yet to register a shot.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    A Brody Cook major for kneeing evened the ice out slightly, as Guelph recorded its first shot and goal on a redirection in front from Carter Stevens.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    The middle frame went scoreless until the final fourteen seconds, where Ethan Miedema beat Knights goaltender Sebastian Gatto\u2019s blocker on the rush to cut the Storm deficit to just one.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Just over one minute into the third, a Guelph pass landed on Braidy Wassilyn\u2019s stick in the slot, where Wassilyn tucked the puck into the top corner to restore London\u2019s two goal lead.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Guelph responded with just 4 minutes left to play, as Seb Gatto turned the puck over to Layne Gallacher, who slotted the puck into the open Knights cage, cutting the London lead back down to one.<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    London would hold on, thanks to a couple of Guelph penalties securing the Knights 4-3 victory.<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Defensively, London put on a clinic in the first, as it took nearly 15 minutes for Erie to earn its first shot on goal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    The Knights kept it coming in the second, as Cohen Bidgood doubled down, and Evan Van Gorp got in on the action to put the Knights up by 5.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Erie finally came up with an answer, as Tyler Cooper capitalized off a turnover behind the London net to cut the deficit to four.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Before the end of the second, London found the scoresheet again. Cohen Bidgood knocked home another one to complete the hat trick, and Braiden Clark found the back of the net for his second.<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Through two periods of play, London had 7 goals, Erie had 7 shots.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Just under two minutes into the third, Henry Brzustewicz sprung Braiden Clark on a breakaway at 4-on-4, who found twine to complete his own hat trick.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Shortly after, Brody Cook was sprung on a shorthanded breakaway from a Linus Funck stretch pass, who put London\u2019s ninth goal past Otters goaltender Noah Tegelaar.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Erie didn\u2019t call it quits. On the same powerplay as Cook\u2019s shorthanded goal, Evan Headrick tallied his 7th of the season for the Otters 2nd of the game.<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Under two minutes after Erie\u2019s response, London hit double digits on the scoreboard, as Max Crete found the back of the net off a loose puck in front.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The Knights kept the momentum going, scoring twice in the final minute of the opening frame, with goals from Evan Van Gorp and Braiden Clark giving London a 3-0 lead through twenty minutes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    In the second, Jaxon Cover found his own rebound and found Ryan Brown in the slot, who tallied his 20th of the season on a wide open net.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Just 3 minutes later, Guelph came up with a response, as Mark Pape capitalized on a fortunate bounce off the back wall, cutting the deficit to three.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Guelph struck again off the stick of Parker Snelgrove in the third, giving the Storm a glimmer of hope for a comeback.<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    The Knights responded however, as Jaxon Cover tallied his 3rd point of the game on a rebound goal, extending London\u2019s lead back to three.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Sudbury responded in the second, as Wolves forward Brayden Bennett redirected a point shot home to cut the\u00a0 deficit to three.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The Wolves continued to push in the third, with an Artem Gonchar point shot finding its way past Sebastian Gatto to reduce the deficit to just two.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    That would be as far as the Wolves comeback would go, as Sebastian Gatto shut the door to secure the 4-2 victory for London.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    London opened the scoring just over three minutes into the opening frame, with Brody Cook finding the back of the net for his fifth of the season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Barrie responded, with the Colts scoring three unanswered goals from Nicholas Desiderio, Calvin Crombie and Brad Gardiner, giving Barrie a 3-1 lead heading into the 1st intermission.<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    The Knights reapplied the pressure in the second, drawing 4 penalties and holding Barrie to just 3 shots in the period. However, Colts goaltender Arvin Jaswal shut the door, preventing London from cutting its 2 goal deficit down.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Barrie extended its lead in the final frame, with Joe Salandra\u2019s 10th and 11th goals of the season securing the 5-1 victory for the Colts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The Knights have the day off tomorrow, before hosting the Sudbury Wolves in the penultimate game of London\u2019s six game homestand at 2:00pm on Sunday.<\/span><\/p>\n
