Knights return to the Memorial Cup with sights set on redemption
The London Knights will commence their 2025 Memorial Cup journey against the QMJHL Champions Moncton Wildcats on Saturday, May 24, at 6:00 pm ET at the Colisée Financière Sun Life in Rimouski, Quebec.
For the Knights, this game marks the beginning of their quest for redemption after a heartbreaking late goal resulting in a 4–3 loss to the Saginaw Spirit in the 2024 Memorial Cup Final. Easton Cowan became just the second player in OHL history to lead the league in playoff scoring in back-to-back seasons, while postseason MVP Kasper Halttunen will head into the tournament with eight goals in his last three games. Captain Denver Barkey returned to the Knights lineup in a limited capacity in game five against the Oshawa Generals, he’ll look to get back into a more normal role as the tournament gets underway.
The Moncton Wildcats, representing the QMJHL are led by potential top five NHL draft pick Caleb Desnoyers, the QMJHL Playoff MVP with 30 points in 19 games. Under the guidance of seasoned head coach Gardiner MacDougall, the Wildcats aim to make a significant impact in their third Memorial Cup appearance.
The Memorial Cup will be broadcasted on TSN all tournament long starting Saturday when the Knights and Wildcats face off in each team’s tournament opener.
