Dickinson Sets New Single Season Franchise Point Record by Defenceman
Make room for Sam Dickinson in the record books.
The third year defenceman from Toronto, ON has broken the Knights single season point record by a defenceman after a two assist day in Windsor on Sunday, March 18th. The record was previous held at 87 points in a season by Evan Bouchard and Rick Corriveau.
Dickinson, the San Jose Sharks first round pick, seemingly came into Sunday’s contest sitting two points back of Bouchard and Corriveau at 85 and when he recorded an assist on Easton Cowan’s second of the afternoon it looked as the record tying point. It wasn’t until the next morning that the Ontario Hockey League announced a stat change, crediting Dickinson with an assist on a Henry Brzustewicz goal against the Owen Sound Attack on February 28th, 2025, pushing Dickinson to 88 points on the season.
Amidst a record breaking season, Dickinson’s 88 points leads the team in scoring and sits third in goals amongst all Knights with a career high 27. The 6’3, 210lbs defenceman not only leads the OHL in plus/minus but recently surpassed Mitch Marner for the Knights all-time plus/minus rating of +119.
Dickinson was acquired by the Knights just over two years ago and most recently earned a nod on the OHL’s London Knights Quarter Century Second Team, quickly asserting himself as an all-time name in club history.
