NIAGARA, ONT \u2014 Niagara IceDogs players <\/span>Ryan Roobroeck<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Vladislav Yermolenko<\/span><\/a> have been named in the NHL Central Scouting North American Final Draft rankings.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Roobroeck was listed 28th overall for North American Skaters, where Yermolenko was listed as 17th overall for North American Goaltenders.<\/span><\/p>\n

Roobroeck is the ninth-ranked OHL player on the list, with Yermolenko as the fifth-ranked OHL goaltender on the list.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Roobroeck, whose season ended early with a lower-body injury, still put up a strong performance for the IceDogs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Roobroeck\u2019s impressive third campaign with the IceDogs saw him finish second in points (58), Second in scoring (30G), and third in assists (28A) in just 49 games played. Of his 30 goals, Roobroeck leads the way with ten power-play goals.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The IceDogs selected Roobroeck second overall in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection, and he is poised for success at the next level. The 6\u20194\u201d Forward from London, Ont, has made a name for himself as a highly skilled 2026 NHL Draft prospect known as a “natural goal scorer” with an elite, heavy shot and power. Roobroeck projects as a top-line power forward with excellent offensive vision and a refined, high-volume shooting ability.<\/span><\/p>\n

NHL Central Scouting also recognized IceDogs rookie goaltender, Vladislav Yermolenko. The Belurusian was selected in the second round (87th overall) in the 2025 OHL Import Draft.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The rookie netminder posted an impressive first OHL season, playing 45 regular-season games and earning the start in five OHL Playoff games.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Yermolenko has a 3.50 GAA, 0.896 SV%, and has marked one shutout.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Known for his hockey IQ and puck-handling, every move Yermolenko has made in the crease was calculated and explosive, making impressive saves night in and night out.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

ST CATHARINES, ONT – Following the conclusion of the Niagara IceDogs season, the Vancouver Canucks have assigned IceDogs star forward Riley Patterson to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks, for the remainder of the season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Patterson is coming off his best OHL season to date, notching his first 40-goal campaign and totaling 84 points.<\/span><\/p>\n

This was Patterson\u2019s first year with the IceDogs after spending the previous two seasons playing for the Barrie Colts. <\/span><\/p>\n

Patterson led the IceDogs in goals, assists, and points, finishing 10th in the OHL in points and third in goals. Patterson also led the team in the playoffs with eight points (4G, 4A) in their five-game series against the Colts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Patterson was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the fourth round (125th overall) of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft and signed his Entry-Level Contract this past September.<\/span><\/p>\n

Patterson is set to make his AHL debut with the Abbotsford Canucks, who have four games remaining in the 2025-26 season. Patterson finished off his junior hockey career with 205 points in 192 games.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Czata, 18, joins the Crunch, who sit in eighth place in the AHL and have five games remaining in the 2025-26 season, and was drafted in the second round (56th overall) in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft by the Lightning. In July of 2025, Czata signed his Entry-Level Contract with Tampa.<\/span><\/p>\n

The re-assignment comes following Czata\u2019s first season as the IceDogs captain, where he recorded 53 points in 63 games, reaching 25 goals for the first time in his OHL career<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

ST. CATHARINES, Ont.<\/strong> \u2014 Grayson Tiller couldn\u2019t have scripted a better ending to his Ontario Hockey League career.<\/p>\n

The St. Catharines native spent his final junior season with the Niagara IceDogs \u2014 the team he grew up cheering for \u2014 making each home game a memorable experience.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was very excited when I found out I was coming home for my last year,\u201d Tiller said. \u201cBeing able to play in front of friends and family… every home game was special.\u201d<\/p>\n

Acquired from the Barrie Colts during the 2025 off-season in exchange for Alex Assadourian and Sarnia’s 2027 fifth-round pick, the overage defenceman made an immediate impact both on and off the ice.<\/p>\n

For Tiller, returning to Niagara meant more than just hockey \u2014 it was an opportunity to give back.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe best part of coming home was my ability to give back to my community,\u201d he said. \u201cI loved going to school visits and Captains Clinics. Just putting a smile on kids\u2019 faces and knowing you\u2019re making an impact in their lives has been rewarding.\u201d<\/p>\n

Head coach Krys Barch said Tiller\u2019s leadership was evident immediately.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s been fantastic,\u201d Barch said. \u201cThe first day we brought him in, he grabbed everybody\u2019s attention. He\u2019s been a real element in bringing guys together. His leadership and ability to connect with teammates have been huge for our team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tiller said his character played a role in his acquisition.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the reasons I was brought in was because of my character,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

On the ice, Tiller contributed five goals and 14 assists for 19 points during the 2025-26 season while serving as an assistant captain.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on his time in Niagara, he points to the team\u2019s culture and camaraderie as defining elements of his experience.<\/p>\n

\u201cI came in wanting to be a leader,\u201d Tiller said. \u201cI\u2019ve played four years in the league, and I\u2019ve been through a lot. Being able to help younger guys and guide them has been great.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tiller\u2019s leadership extended beyond the IceDogs locker room. He volunteered as a coach with the Niagara North U14 AAA team, helping mentor young players both on and off the ice.<\/p>\n

The team posted a 33-12-3 record this season and secured a spot at the OHL Cup in Kingston.<\/p>\n

Tiller, who grew up playing in the Niagara North program, said the experience has been especially meaningful.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy favourite part has been the excitement when we show up to practice,\u201d he said. \u201cHaving a relationship with the kids has been great. They look up to me like a big brother.\u201d<\/p>\n

While he provides on-ice instruction, Tiller also emphasizes life skills.<\/p>\n

\u201cI help them with their on-ice development, but I also try to offer guidance off the ice as well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love being involved in the community,\u201d he said. \u201cTo be able to make a meaningful difference through policing is something I\u2019m passionate about. You\u2019re often seeing people on the worst day of their lives, and I want to be able to provide empathy and support.\u201d<\/p>\n

As his junior career comes to a close, Tiller expressed gratitude for the opportunity to finish where it all began.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just want to thank Dog Country for everything this year,\u201d he said. \u201cComing home for my last year of junior was so special to me, and I\u2019m excited to see what the future holds.\u201d<\/p>\n

The money donated from the IceDogs, alongside Tim and Karol Hyland, will be used towards the adoption fees for two canine companions from the Humane Society of Greater Niagara (HSGN).[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”81837″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” css=””][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Herbie, a nine-year-old Boxer mix, and Dino, a two-year-old Husky mix, are two of the longest-standing residents of the HSGN, looking for their forever homes. With the $1,000 Donation, all adoption fees have been waived for both dogs.<\/p>\n

Herbie was found as a stray in August 2025 and is now hoping to find a quiet, loving home to enjoy his golden years. He\u2019s a gentle, sweet boy who may be a little shy at first, but once he warms up, he becomes a loyal cuddlebug who thrives on calm companionship.<\/p>\n

Dino came in as a stray in June 2025 and is now searching for an active, engaged home. He\u2019s a playful, people-loving dog with lots of personality. While he\u2019s still working on his manners, he\u2019s eager to learn and will do best with someone ready to guide him, then relax together after a day of adventures.<\/p>\n

The Niagara IceDogs are a major junior ice hockey team in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), based in St. Catharines, Ontario. ST CATHARINES, ONT — The Niagara IceDogs won a barnburner in overtime against the Erie Otters to win the final game of the regular season with big nights from all three overagers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The IceDogs entered the game coming off an overtime win the previous night over their first-round opponent, the Barrie Colts. The overtime winner came courtesy of rookie sensation Ryerson Edgar<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sunday’s game against Erie was the overagers\u2019 night for the IceDogs, where the team was honouring its three overagers in the final regular season game of their OHL careers. The overagers being honoured were goalie Charlie Robertson<\/a>, defenceman Grayson Tiller,<\/a> and defenceman Jakub Chromiak<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The IceDogs looked to ride the momentum from Saturday’s win into Sunday’s game, but Otters forward Michael Dec was the one who started the scoring. With the IceDogs down one, Vancouver Canucks prospect Riley Patterson<\/a> took it upon himself to tie the game. Patterson\u2019s unassisted goal was his 39th of the season. Still in the first period, Ivan Galliyanov<\/a> gave the IceDogs the lead on a curl and drag shot, and picking up an assist was overager Jakub Chromiak.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the second frame, Michael Dec scored first again to even the game at two. Just under a minute later, Chromiak scored his 12th of the season to restore the one-goal lead in his final regular-season game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The IceDogs took the one-goal lead into the third period, but just 41 seconds into the final period, Otters forward Andrew Kuzma scored to tie the game. Once again, Patterson responded, this time with his 40th goal of the season to finish the season in third in OHL goal scoring. Yet again, the one-goal lead would not last as the Otters bit back with a goal by Ulysses Lombardi to tie the game and shortly after a goal by Tyler Cooper to take the 5-4 lead.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Luckily for the IceDogs, being down one goal in this game had not been a problem for either team.<\/span><\/p>\n

The IceDogs would continue mounting pressure until the Otters cracked when rookie Judd Knauft<\/a> buried his second goal of the season. IceDogs overager Grayson Tiller picked up an assist on the tying goal to put the cherry on top of his final OHL regular-season game. This goal marked the fifth time a one-goal lead had been squandered in the game, and it would force overtime, where the IceDogs were looking for more overager magic.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With just over a minute left in overtime, IceDogs overager goalie Charlie Robertson jumped on a loose puck and played it up to Patterson to spring a two-on-one for the IceDogs. Patterson found captain Ethan Czata<\/a> in front, who buried the overtime-winning goal, earning Robertson his first assist of the season and his final OHL win.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jakub Chromiak, Grayson Tiller, and Charlie Robertson were honoured one final time by being named the three stars of the game after all picking up points to put a bow on their final regular seasons in the OHL.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The IceDogs now shift their focus to preparing for their first-round series against the Barrie Colts.<\/span><\/p>\n

The series starts in Barrie on Thursday, March 26, and returns to Niagara for Game 3 on Tuesday, March 31. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Central Division’s Barrie Colts and Niagara IceDogs are set to meet in the first round of the OHL Playoffs for the second year in a row, and if their most recent matchup on Saturday was any indication of how this series is going to play out, fans are in for a ride. Throughout the season, the two clubs faced off six times, with five of those games decided by one goal, setting the stage for what should be a close and physical first-round series.<\/span><\/p>\n

Led by Cole Beaudoin, who topped the team in scoring, the Colts leaned on their veteran presence throughout the season \u2013 including Ben Wilmott, Brad Gardiner, and captain Kashawn Aitcheson, who set multiple franchise records throughout the year. Barrie’s calling card was a dominant second half, becoming the first team to reach 40 wins while boasting one of the league’s better power plays. However, the team will be without Aitcheson for the first two games as he serves a suspension, meaning there will be added pressure on the blueline in his absence. Between the pipes, Ben Hrebik \u2013 who sat second in the league in save percentage (.920) \u2013 and rookie Arvin Jaswel, gave the Colts a reliable tandem all season long.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the other side of the ice, the IceDogs have leaned on the young talents of rookie standout Ryerson Edgar, Ryan Roobroeck, and goaltender Vladislav Yermolenko, who posted a .896 save percentage on the season. Veteran Riley Patterson enjoyed a breakout season, setting career highs in both goals and assists, while Ethan Czata provided consistent offence. Despite trading away then-captain Kevin He, the eventual acquisition of defenceman Jakub Chromiak proved crucial to strengthening their blue line. Even through some rocky stretches in the first half of the year, Niagara stayed consistent within the Central Division and has proven on multiple occasions that they can keep up with any team.<\/span><\/p>\n
