Niagara IceDogs Fall To The Storm At Fleming Memorial Arena
BEAMSVILLE, ON – A sold out crowd in Beamsville wasn’t enough as the IceDogs drop this preseason game, 4-1 to the visiting Guelph Storm. The IceDogs have dropped back-to-back preseason games to the Storm after opening the campaign with a 7-1 win against the Petes.
Guelph opened the scoring through Bruins prospect, Matthew Poitras who found the net short-handed. The powerplay struggles would continue for the IceDogs in the first period as Ryan McGuire would net Guelph’s second short-handed goal of the period. The Storm continued to press, grabbing the first goal of the midway frame via Ryan McGuire, his second of the game. Michael Podolioukh would get the IceDogs on board with a powerplay marker to make it a two goal game. The third period didn’t prove to be any different as Guelph tacked on another to put the game away.
IceDogs starter, Owen Flores made 34 saves on 38 shots against. The shots would finish 38-23 in favour of the Storm.
