IceDogs Take The Win in Preseason Opener
NIAGARA, ON – The Niagara IceDogs took the win in their preseason opener against the defending OHL Champions, the Peterborough Petes. The IceDogs took control of the game early and never looked back, skating to a 7-1 win in front of their home fans.
Evan Klein got the party started in the first, with goals followed by Alex Assadourian and Andrew Wycisk to make it 3-0 after one. Petes would grab one back through rookie Brennan Faulkner, however, Kevin He would quickly restore the IceDogs three goal lead through a power play marker. The IceDogs would tack on two more before the period ended through second overall pick, Ryan Roobroeck and Kevin He to make it 6-1. Wycisk would score his second of the game in the third to add to lead. The game would finish 7-1.
Charlie Burns started the game in net stopping 12 of 13 shots, after making way for Marcus Vandenberg at the ten minute mark of the second period. Vandenberg went on to be flawless, saving all 13 shots he faced.

The IceDogs will travel to Guelph on Friday September 8th to kick-off a back-to-back with the Storm, with the second game taking place at Fleming Memorial Arena in Beamsville. Tickets can be purchased through the West Niagara Hockey website.
