Wassilyn is Gen-erally Great
OSHAWA, ON – Braidy Wassilyn’s first two in the OHL and a pair from Ryan Roobroeck powered the IceDogs to a 5-3 win in Oshawa Friday night.
Down 2-0 in the opening period, Sean Doherty’s first for the IceDogs cut the lead in half. It was a great individual effort from behind the net as he crammed it in at 18:07 with help Max Crete and Noah Van Vliet. Oshawa held a 15-8 shots edge after one.
Ben Boudreau’s squad flipped the switch and took over in the second. Wassilyn notched his first in the “O” at 11:25 off a great assist from Andrew Wycick.
Wycisk held the line and mesmerized defenders with some great stick handling in close quarters. Wassilyn’s second came at 13:18 with help from Ethan Czata and Jack Brauti. A third unanswered came on the power-play at 16:40 from Ryan Roobroeck. His snap shot found the back of the net with Brauti and Wassilyn picking up assists. The shot clock read 15-6 IceDogs in period two.
After the Generals crept a goal closer early in the third, Roobroeck closed the deal into the empty net in the final minute with Kevin He and Blair Scott chipping in assists. For the contest, the IceDogs held a 34-29 shots advantage.
