Roobroeck Secures the Shootout Win for the IceDogs
PETERBOROUGH ON, After regulation and overtime, Ryan Roobroeck wins it for the IceDogs in a shootout.
It was a slow first period tonight in Peterborough, with both teams struggling to find their rhythm. After nearly going scoreless, Ethan Czata—the IceDogs’ fifth overall pick in the 2023 OHL Priority Draft and most recently named to the NHL’s Central Scouting Player to Watch List for 2025—broke the deadlock. He capitalized on a rebound, finishing a setup from Ryan Roobroeck and Blair Scott to give the IceDogs their first lead of the game at 1-0.
The second period saw the Peterborough Petes respond, scoring to tie the game. With neither team able to find the back of the net in the third, the match went to overtime. Both squads fought hard, but neither could score in the extra frame, leading to a shootout to determine the winner. Owen Flores defended the crease and left the Petes with no goals.
For Niagara, top scorers Kevin He, Andrei Loshko, and Roobroeck took their chances, and it was Roobroeck who sealed the victory, clinching the game for the IceDogs with a 2-1 win.
