Knights Tune-Up IceDogs
GAME RECAP – BY THE ARMCHAIR GM’S SPORTS NETWORK’S BRANDON CAPUTO
The Knights would open the scoring just before the five-minute mark as their captain Denver Barkey would take the pass on a two-on-one, past a diving Noah Van Vliet as the IceDogs were outnumbered on a defensive line change, beating Flores who did all he could to keep it out.
The Knights would extend their lead to a pair as recently acquired defenceman Cam Allen would carry the puck in and find Niagara native Noah Reed who snapped it past Flores.
Niagara would come out in the middle period with a four-goal deficit and surrender a pair of early goals, resulting in Ben Boudreau making a goaltending change to relieve his starter Owen Flores with two more games upcoming this weekend, giving Charlie Robertson some game action.
London would add another pair on Robertson before Noah Van Vliet would drop the gloves with Noah Aboflan resulting in a Niagara man advantage and captain Kevin He would wrist his 25th of the season, with the assist going to Callum Cheynowski.
Owen Flores would be back in the IceDogs crease for the final period down by eight before Blake Arrowsmith took the pass from London native Ryan Roobroeck and buried his sixth goal of the season, a feel-good moment in a tough night for the IceDogs as #18 scored in his former home arena.
Rookie Max Crete would get back-to-back goals for the IceDogs taking the pass from Alex Assadourian and potting his ninth of the campaign. Niagara would score their third straight in the period as Ryan Roobroeck would take the cross-ice feed from Ethan Czata and wrist one up high over Elliott for their fourth goal of the contest and his 27th of the season, with the secondary assist going to Braidy Wassilyn.
Niagara would outshoot London 26-2 in the final period and 3-0 on the scoresheet but lose 9-4 overall in their only trip to London, in front of 9061 fans at Canada Life Place.
