IceDogs Win the Latest Edition in the Dog Fight to Match Last Season’s Win Total
By ROD MAWHOOD
The Niagara IceDogs made sure their last home game before embarking on a five-game road trip, and holiday break, was a winning one.
4-3 was the final over the Brantford Bulldogs Sunday afternoon at Meridian Centre.
The win, Niagara’s 17th of the season, also equaled its total from all of last season.
“Seventeen in 28 games is such a big step forward compared to 17 in 68 last season,” said IceDogs Head Coach Ben Bourdreau.
“You can spot the similarities in our habits when you count our wins.
It’s part of building a winning culture.”
Sean Doherty, Braidy Wassilyn, Alex Assadourian and Blake Arrowsmith – with his first in Niagara – scored the goals, while Owen Flores made 43 saves to pick up the win.
“Flores is a constant, he is the rock behind our success currently,” Boudreau said.
Niagara’s next home game is New Year’s Eve against the Peterborough Petes. Puck drop is set for 6 pm, and fans can skate with the IceDogs players after the game.
