IceDogs Take Down Wolves
SUDBURY, ON – The Niagara IceDogs moved into sole possession of first place in the Eastern Conference on Friday night, improving to (25-12-2-1) on the season, after a 5-4 victory over the Sudbury Wolves.
Niagara had a strong road performance against a recently improved Sudbury squad with some key deadline acquisitions. Alex Assadourian headlined the IceDogs’ excellent performance with two key goals to put Niagara in a position to win.
Jack Brauti also was a huge contributor with one goal and two assists in his own right. Owen Flores made 34 stops en route to the win as well.
The game was a back-and-forth affair from the opening puck drop, with the game often deadlocked at a tie.
However, with the game poised to head to Overtime at 4-4, Mathieu Paris had other ideas. With just 25 seconds left in regulation, Paris buried his third goal of the season to claim the vital two points for Niagara.
The IceDogs are back in action on Sunday, January 12th against the Peterborough Petes at Meridian Centre at 2:00 pm.
