IceDogs Stop Steelheads

The Niagara IceDogs picked up a big two points in the OHL Eastern Conference Standings with a 5-4 win over the visiting Brampton Steelheads Friday night at Meridian Centre.
Alex Assadourian, returning from injury and playing in his first game since October 24, opened the scoring for Niagara just 88 seconds into the contest.
“Alex wasted absolutely zero time to get acclimated and I was more than happy to see him rewarded because I was able to witness firsthand the effort he put in to get back into game shape,” said IceDogs Head Coach Ben Boudreau.
Ethan Czata was the other story of the game, scoring twice and being named first star.
The sophomore forward continues to impress.
“I think there was a lot of people in the stands to come watch the three (Steelheads) that just got selected to the World Junior roster, but everybody ended up talking about Ethan Czata,” Boudreau said.
“He is truly just scratching the surface of his potential, and it was great to see him get rewarded on the scoresheet.”
Ryan Roobroeck and Noah Van Vliet had the other Niagara goals.
“Huge win. Couldn’t be happier looking back at it,” added Boudreau.
The IceDogs host the Brantford Bulldogs Sunday afternoon for Beach Day at Meridian Centre. Puck drop is set for 2 pm.
Niagara will be wearing specialty jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game – all in support of FACS Niagara.
