IceDogs Rally to Push Past Colts
Barrie, ON – The Niagara IceDogs continued their winning ways and improve to (21-9-1-1) on the season, following a 6-5 win over the Barrie Colts on Thursday night.
The IceDogs came out of the gates firing, closing out the first period up 4-1. Barrie scored the first goal of the game, however, four unanswered goals from Alex Assadourian, Kevin He, Sean Doherty and Andrei Loshko gave the Dogs the three-goal lead after 20 minutes.
The Barrie Colts built some second period momentum, as two goals in less than a minute made the game 4-3. However, the IceDogs did not falter, as Alex Assadourian scored his second goal of the game late in the period to restore their two-goal lead.
After giving the IceDogs a scare late in the in the third period – Barrie eventually gave in, with Alex Assadourian completing the hat trick via an empty netter. Barrie scored a late goal that ultimately did not amount to tying it up, as the IceDogs took the two points by a score of 6-5.
The IceDogs currently hold a six game win streak, and will look to take that momentum into tomorrow’s matchup against the Brampton Steelheads at 7:00 pm for their final game prior to the holiday break.
