IceDogs Perfect Record Against Frontenacs Comes To An End
KINGSTON, ON – The Niagara IceDogs drop their first game of the season to the Kingston Frontenacs after beating them 4-0 and 4-1 in the two previous contests.
Final Score: KGN 10 – NIA 0
Starting Goaltenders: Charlie Robertson (Niagara) – Kyle Downey (Kingston)
It would be an opening period to forget for the Niagara IceDogs, surrounding four goals to the Frontenacs. Kingston would put on the pressure right from puck drop but Charlie Robertson would make a few outstanding saves early, including a breakaway save on Jacob Battaglia. Robertson would be shaken up on the play and it would appear that call-up goaltender, Tyson Gustaw, would have to come in relief. However, Robertson would stay in the game. Following this sequence the wheels would fall of for the IceDogs as Kingston scored four straight in the period.
The second period would be a repeat performance for the Frontenacs as they pushed four more goals past the IceDogs to make it an 8-0 game. The IceDogs would only manage six shots in the period.
Kingston would keep the goal scoring coming in the final frame, tacking on two more goals as the game ended 10-0.
