IceDogs Name Kevin He as 19th Captain In Franchise History and Jack Brauti to Assistant Captain
NIAGARA, ON – The Niagara IceDogs have announced that Kevin He will serve as the 19th Captain of the team, with Jack Brauti named as Assistant Captain.
“Kevin is the future of our franchise right now. He is our first NHL Draft pick in 6 years and signalizes that we are on the upswing as he is going to lead the next core group of our culture” said Head Coach Ben Boudreau.
“Kevin sets the standard of the culture of our group moving forward” Boudreau continued.
Kevin He, originally drafted 25th overall by the IceDogs in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection Draft, was also selected by the Winnipeg Jets in the 4th round (109th overall).
During his first season with the IceDogs, the 6’0” left winger from Nobleton played 66 games, scored 21 goals, and recorded 13 assists. He was named Assistant Captain in his second season (2023-2024), during which he played 64 games, scored 31 goals, and earned 22 assists.
“I had no idea, but I am very honoured” Kevin He stated. “I am honoured to have the torch passed on to me, and I am really excited for the group that we have now. It’s been a good start and we want to keep that going” He said.
Jack Brauti, originally drafted 104th overall by the Barrie Colts in 2022, played 62 games with the Colts, accumulating 21 points. The 6’0” defenceman from Thornhill, was acquired by the IceDogs ahead of the 2024 season and is currently fifth on the team in points, with 1 goal and 8 assists in 9 games, including an overtime winner, Brauti plays a 200 ft game and fights to the final moments for his team.
