IceDogs Get the Better of Greyhounds
SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – The Niagara IceDogs improve to (19-9-1-1) on the season following an 8-4 win over the Soo Greyhounds on Friday night at GFL Memorial Gardens.
The IceDogs came out of the gates firing, jumping out to a 2-0 lead just ten minutes into the first period. Andrei Loshko opened the scoring with a quick Power Play marker, followed shortly after by Kevin He – who added his 22nd tally on the campaign to extend the IceDogs’ lead.
The second period was certainly busy from a goal-scoring perspective.
Niagara picked up right where they left off in the first, as Blair Scott ripped home his first goal as an IceDog! After a Soo goal to make it 3-1, Ethan Czata and Alex Assadourian responded by scoring just 1:08 apart to blow the game open, 5-1.
The third period was also action-packed, with six combined goals between both squads.
The IceDogs and Greyhounds traded goals back and forth, with the Soo managing to make it as close as a two goal game. However, the IceDogs ultimately clamped down and got the job done, adding markers from Ethan Czata, Andrei Loshko and Mike Levin in the final frame to seal the deal.
The IceDogs will look to finish their northern road trip off strong, with a matchup against the Sudbury Wolves on Sunday afternoon at 2:05 pm.
