IceDogs Fall Short on Superhero Day to Bulldogs
NIAGARA, ON – The Niagara IceDogs fell to (27-19-3-4) on the season, after a 5-4 loss to the Brantford Bulldogs on Superhero Day at the Meridian Centre on Sunday afternoon.
Niagara put up a spirited fight on Superhero Day, but a second-period surge from the Brantford Bulldogs proved too much to overcome for the IceDogs.
Brantford struck first early in the opening frame, with Cole Brown scoring at 4:41. The IceDogs responded early in the second when Andrei Loshko buried his 30th of the year just 48 seconds in, assisted by Kevin He and Noah Van Vliet.
Niagara took the lead at 11:36 of the second, when Van Vliet found the back of the net for his sixth of the season, thanks to assists from Ethan Czata and Rafek Dianov. However, the Bulldogs quickly turned the tide, scoring four unanswered goals in a seven-minute span.
Nick Lardis evened things up at 12:30, followed by Jake O’Brien two minutes later to give Brantford a 3-2 edge. Brown added his second of the game at 17:28, and Noah Nelson capped off the period with a dagger at 19:55, scoring what would stand as the game-winner.
The IceDogs clawed back in the third, with Mike Levin finding the back of the net at 14:21 and Loshko adding his second of the night with just 35 seconds remaining, though unfortunately – it wasn’t enough to complete the comeback.
The IceDogs are back in action this Sunday, February 17th on Family Day, against the Brampton Steelheads at CAA Centre at 2:00 PM.
