IceDogs Close Out Regular Season with Loss to Colts
BARRIE, ON – The Niagara IceDogs wrapped up their regular season on Saturday night, falling to the Barrie Colts by a score of 8-1 to close out their 2024-25 regular season with a record of (29-31-4-4). With the loss, the IceDogs finish the campaign with a focus on their upcoming first-round playoff series, where they will get a chance at redemption against Barrie.
Niagara came out strong in the first period tonight, opening the scoring at 9:35 when Ethan Czata buried his 21st goal of the season. Czata beautifully redirected a shot from Matthew Virgilio into the top corner of Barrie’s net, giving the IceDogs early momentum as they carried a 1-0 lead into the intermission.
However, Barrie responded in the second period, as Brad Gardiner evened the score at 4:46. The Colts then took control with three more goals in the frame, as Owen Van Steensel, Dalyn Wakely, and Tristan Bertucci found the back of the net to put the visitors ahead.
Niagara continued to battle in the third, but Barrie added to their lead with four more tallies, including a power-play goal from Anthony Romani. Despite the deficit, the IceDogs never let up, playing with energy and determination throughout the contest.
With the regular season now complete, the IceDogs shift their focus to the postseason, where they will face off against Barrie in Game 1 of the first round on Thursday, March 27th at 7:00 PM at Sadlon Arena. The stage is set for a competitive playoff showdown as Niagara looks to make their mark when it matters most.
