IceDogs Bulldoze Battalion
NORTH BAY, ON – The Niagara IceDogs improve to (18-9-1-1) on the season following a 7-3 win over the North Bay Battalion on Thursday night at North Bay Memorial Gardens.
The IceDogs started the first period down 1-0, until Kevin He scored his 21st goal of the season to tie it all up at one.
The second period was the determining frame of the game, including a grand total of seven goals combined for both sides.
This scoring surge was led by none other than Ryan Roobroeck, who only took a staggering 5:12 to record the fastest IceDogs hat trick in franchise history. This incredible feat was also highlighted as it was a natural hat trick for the IceDogs assistant captain, scoring all three goals consecutively. Roobroeck also added primary assists on Jack Brauti’s fourth goal of the campaign as well as Andrei Loshko’s power play marker to cap off his electric second period.
After the Roobroeck scoring explosion, North Bay gained some late period momentum, tallying two late markers to make the score a more respectable 6-3 headed into the final frame.
However, it was Niagara’s night all along, as shut down defence in the third period and fantastic goaltending from Owen Flores – which included 54 saves – propelled the IceDogs to victory.
Andrei Loshko sealed the deal with five minutes left in the third period, as he found the empty net to make it a 7-3 game, which proved to be the final score.
The IceDogs will look to build on their momentum tomorrow night when they continue their road trip against the Soo Greyhounds at 7:07 pm at GFL Memorial Gardens.
