He-He in Kingston: Weekend Sweep
KINGSTON, ON – It took Kevin He 25 seconds on Sunday to turn a 2-1 third period deficit in Kingston into a lead, as the IceDogs won 5-2. The victory made it a perfect Eastern Ontario road trip to begin the 2024-2025 season.
Alex Assadourian opened the scoring in the first, converting his own rebound, 9 seconds after his penalty came to an end. Matthew Virgilio and Andrei Loshko got the assists. In a period where the Frontenacs were outshot 18-10, Kingston evened the game just over two minutes later.
A goal less than a minute into the second gave the home side a 2-1 edge. It was a more deliberate pace over 20 minutes with Ben Boudreau’s team bettered in shots 9-7.
With under seven minutes to play, in a third where Kingston held the shots advantage 18-9, the Dogs refused to give up. Like Assadourian, He buried his own rebound at 13:27 with help from line-mate Loshko. A mere 25 seconds later, He snapped home his 3rd of the year, with Jack Brauti and Owen Flores chipping in. Loshko into the empty net at 18:44, followed by Max Crete with under 38 seconds left rounded out the scoring. It will go down as Crete’s first goal in the OHL, as Braidy Wassilyn recorded his first ever point on the assist.
The 2-0 IceDogs are off until Friday when they pay a visit to Oshawa to take on the Generals.
The home opener happens Sunday October 6th versus Brampton.
