2025 OHL Priority Selection Day One Recap
NIAGARA, ON – The first day of the 2025 OHL Priority Selection presented by Real Canadian Superstore has concluded, and the Niagara IceDogs made two draft picks!
Round 1, Pick 10: Ryerson Edgar, Center, York Simcoe Express U16 AAA
Round 3: Pick 49: Caden Bell, Defence, Don Mills Flyers U16 AAA
Ryerson Edgar scouting report:
“Ryerson is the leader on his team offensively. He is the driving force to the majority of their offense. He is a very good skater that has a top end speed, which makes him hard to handle off the rush, and very good edges that make him shifty down low off the cycle. He has that ability to hold onto the puck for the extra half a second to draw someone in and then make a nice pass to set up a teammate for a scoring chance. He is consistently his team’s best player and will help carry them to any success in the second half.”
Edgar capped off an impressive U16 year with 62 points (33 goals and 27 assists) in 32 games. At the OHL Cup, Ryerson was logging 2 points per game with 4 goals and 4 assists in 8 games.
Caden Bell scouting report:
Caden is a very well-rounded defender that does everything well. He is a mobile defenceman that uses his feet to defend by closing gaps and he can beat a forechecker with quick escape moves. He is a player that plays a simple yet effective game on both sides of the puck, not flashy by any means but very effective. He has a high hockey IQ as he makes the right plays and is rarely caught out of position. Plays a contain style of game and is on the right side of the puck defensively. Caden has the tools to be a solid defender at the next level.
Bell had a very impressive OHL Cup, ending the tournament with 8 points (4 goals and 4 assists) in 7 games. Playing with the Don Mills Flyers, Bell had 29 points (10 goals and 19 assists) in 32 games.
Welcome to Dog Country, Ryerson and Caden!
