Former Hound Lands Coaching Job
Former Soo Greyhound forward Doug Shedden has been named the new head coach of the American Hockey League's St. John's Maple Leafs, the top farm team of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs. Shedden spent the last 3 seasons as the head coach of the Memphis RiverKings in the Central Hockey League.
Shedden, who played 416 career NHL games was a member of the Soo Greyhounds from 1979-81. His best season was the 1980-81 campaign when he scored 51 goals for the club. In his two seasons with Greyhounds, Shedden accumulated 81 goals, 116 assists, and 197 points. Shedden is one of only 4 former Greyhound players to reach the 50 goal plateau.
