Ivanov inks with Greyhounds
Soo Greyhounds General Manager Kyle Raftis announced the commitment of the team’s second goaltender today.
2020 1st Round Selection (4th overall) in the U18 OHL Priority Selection, Samuel Ivanov, has agreed to a standard player agreement and education package with the Program.
“We feel Sam is a great asset to our group. He’s a naturally gifted goaltender and keeps adding layers to his game. Sam’s big and mobile – he has quick reflexes and athleticism which give him all the tools to be successful in the crease” explained Raftis.
A native of Richmond Hill, ON, Ivanov last competed in the 2019-20 season for the Vaughan Kings U18 AAA.
The 6.03, 165-lb netminder appeared in 25 games compiling a win-loss record of 13-7-5 to go along with a 1.96 GAA and 0.903 SV% and one shutout.
“I am very excited to join this amazing organization and be able to come to the rink everyday wearing the red and white. There is a winning and hard working culture in this city and I am honoured to be able to share that experience with all the other young men on the team” said Ivanov.
