Team Red would add another with d-man Liam Weaver getting in on the goal-scoring on a Kane Cloutier Assist.<\/p>\n<p>That two-goal lead would evaporate as Team White added a pair of their own. Jakub Kuklinski would score the first for Team White, with Lyndaker and Mowat getting the assist. The second came from Lyndaker, and it was Kuklinski getting the helper this time.<\/p>\n<p>Team Red would put a stop to the momentum as Tyler Hinde was able to score his first of the game from Pape and Yingst.<\/p>\n<p>Before halftime, Team White levelled the score as Sam Roberts scored, with Ethan Cava and Porter Matchett grabbing the assists.<\/p>\n<p>The second half of the game was controlled by Red as Hinde scored twice more, completing his hat trick and finishing the game with four points. With the second seventh-round pick, Oshawa selected Benjamin Legros from the Credit River Capitals U16 AAA, playing in 32 games and scoring 34 points.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In the eighth round, the Gens took Ratmir Shalapayev from Team Illinois 15\u2019s, where he played 50 games, grabbing 59 points.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Liam Nelson from the Vaughan Kings U16 AAA with their ninth-round pick. Nelson played 33 games, collecting 14 points.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Oshawa drafted William LoSauro from the North Jersey Avalanche 16U in the 10th round; he suited up 13 times, grabbing 24 points.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In the 11th round, the Gens took Braydon Cornacchia from the Whitby Wildcats U16 AAA, where he played 34 games and recorded 25 points.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Generals took Lucas Mowat from the Niagara North Stars U16 AAA. Mowat played 34 games last season, getting 17 points.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Oshawa selected Stephen Knight in the 14th round from the Detroit Little Caesars 15\u2019s, where he played<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>21 games, collecting 19 points.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">To close out their draft the Gens took goalie Noah Spiteri in the 15th round from the BioSteel Sports Academy U16 AAA. The newest first overall pick is no stranger to winning, having helped his team to a GTHL Championship this past year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are excited to have a player of Kane&#8217;s talents joining our organization,&#8221; said Oshawa&#8217;s General Manager Roger Hunt. &#8220;It&#8217;s quite a torch-handing-off moment having John Tavares, the last player that was selected number one by the Gens, make the selection of Kane Cloutier.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Oshawa is no stranger to the effect that John Tavares was able to bring to the community.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We know the impact John had and continues to have in Oshawa, and Kane can be as influential a figure here on and off the ice,&#8221; added Hunt.<\/p>\n<p>GensNation expects a lot from a first overall pick, and Kane has the skill and drive to exceed those expectations.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Kane brings a high level of talent, speed, work ethic and commitment to the Generals,&#8221; remarked the Gens GM. &#8220;We went through some strong seasons as a team and harvested some great talents in recent years. Kane will be a player much the same. He will grow as a player and person while being an exciting player to watch.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cloutier is well aware of what it takes to make it not only in the OHL but also in the NHL. His father, Dan Cloutier, spent 10 seasons playing goalie in the NHL.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Kane comes from hockey Bloodlines with his Dad, Dan, playing in both the OHL and NHL and seeing the commitment it takes to play at those levels,&#8221; said Hunt. &#8220;Having someone under the same roof as you to be able to help you and guide you in your dad will be a great asset for Kane as he sets out on his hockey journey.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Oshawa should be ready for some fun times down at the Tribute Communities Centre.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Cloutier brings us the ability to bring fans out of their seats with his skill,&#8221; added Hunt. &#8220;He will score goals for us and be a dynamic offensive player. In the playoffs, Griffin made back-to-back trips to the OHL Championship Series, winning two Bobby Orr Trophies along the way. The Generals&#8217; former first-round pick played in 42 playoff games with the Gens, picking up 34 points, 17 being goals.<\/p>\n<p>&#8221; Owen came in as a first-rounder and certainly didn&#8217;t disappoint. I think he took his first season to acclimate to the league; it is incredible how long it took a player of his calibre to score his first goal,&#8221; said Roger Hunt. &#8221; He had incredible growth as a player in his second year to help us get to an OHL Championship appearance for a second time.
