The Oshawa Generals, invested in Oshawa
Dear Generals Fan,
For more than 80 years, the Oshawa Generals have been proud partners of the Oshawa community. Through our CHL-leading five Memorial Cup Championships and our leading 13 OHL Championships, we are proud to be the heart of this great city. Players like Bobby Orr, John Tavares and Eric Lindros proudly say, “Once an Oshawa General, always an Oshawa General.”
This season, when you come and cheer on your Gens at the Tribute Communities Centre, you’ll join 253,123 other fans, like you, who are investing in Oshawa, and investing in the Oshawa Generals.
This year alone, our fans and our team will contribute approximately:
- $187,000 to local charities, through 50/50 draws and other in-rink and community fundraisers; including 3,507 teddy bears from our recent teddy bear toss, which were donated to local charities, like the Durham Children’s Aid Society, Boys and Girls Club of Durham, Salvation Army, and the YMCA.
- $10,000 through time and financial contributions to local hockey programs; and
- $2.35M directly to the town through arena rentals and concession stand revenue.
Our players will attend approximately 60 events in the community, where they will proudly wear the Oshawa Generals logo and promote the team and the town. This year, the team will also fund $162,853 in scholarship dollars, so that our alumni players can continue their education by attending post-secondary institutions, including Ontario Tech.
At the rink, you can expect to see 1,920 public school students and their teachers singing the national anthem and 1,300 minor hockey players playing a quick game between periods. And let’s not forget that skater at every game carrying the Gens flag.
As we close 2023, I want to personally thank each and every one of you for joining the team in investing in Oshawa.
We are so glad to have you with us.
Yours in hockey,
