The Oshawa Generals have won the Draft Lottery
Oshawa, On., – The Oshawa Generals have won the OHL Priority Draft Selection Lottery and will have the first overall selection in this year’s draft.
After a long season, the Generals will have a chance to speed up their rebuild a little quicker with the chance to take the first player in the OHL Priority Selection Draft.
“Winning the OHL Draft Lottery gives us a chance to close the book on a disappointing season and immediately move to the excitement for the franchise’s future,” said Oshawa Generals’ GM Roger Hunt. “This pick will result in a player who will come in and be an impact player, and we couldn’t be more excited to get going in the 2026-27 season. Our fans deserve the best!”
This marks just the third time in the franchise’s history that they will have the first overall pick in the OHL draft, with the other times resulting in the selection of John Tavares and Tom McCarthy.
The Oshawa Generals’ youth movement continues to grow with this pick, adding more high-end talent to tie into a young group that showed up and worked hard all season long.
