Round 2 Game 3: Generals take Ottawa trip looking for victories
Oshawa, Ont. – The Oshawa Generals are arriving in the Nation’s Capital this evening as they take on the Ottawa 67’s for Round Two, Game Three. After a weekend at home at the Tribute Communities Centre, the Generals are leading the series 2-0.
The series kicked off Friday, Apr. 12th and the Generals took charge with a 4-3 win. Colorado Avalanche prospect, Calum Ritchie scored twice in just over two minutes to lead the Gens over the 67’s; Ritchie also added a helper on Dylan Roobroeck’s goal. Roobroeck played a role in all four Oshawa goals with a goal and three assists, including a beautiful behind-the-back pass to set up Calum Ritchie for his first of the night. Beckett Sennecke scored the other Generals’ goal, and 67’s Thomas Sirman scored his first career OHL postseason goal while it was Luca Pinelli and Braeden Kressler also scored for Ottawa. Five of the seven goals were scored in the third period, and Oshawa’s Jacob Oster stopped 27-of-30 to earn the win while Ottawa’s Collin MacKenzie made 33 saves for the 67’s.
In Game Two on Sunday evening, it was Sennecke leading the Generals to victory after scoring two goals, including a beauty in which he danced around two 67’s defenders before beating MacKenzie. Roobroeck and Stuart Rolofs each scored a goal and added a helper while defenceman Ben Danford’s first career OHL postseason goal with 62 seconds remaining in the first would stand as the game-winner. Matthew Buckley scored the other Oshawa goal and 67’s Chris Barlas opened the scoring with the lone Ottawa goal.
Tonight will be Ottawa’s chance to split the lead in half or the Generals will come out successful with a chance to end it all on Thursday night. This game will be one to watch, as the final result will determine the rest of this series’ future.
