Oshawa Generals 2024 Training Camp: Day 1 Recap
Oshawa, Ont. – The Oshawa Generals launched their 2024/25 Training Camp at the Tribute Communities Centre, where Team Lindros and Team Orr faced off in front of GensNation on August 26th. This was the first of six open scrimmages available to the public as we prepare for the upcoming season. It was a long day for the group of athletes, which included current players, potential prospects, and free agents.
Team Orr ignited the camp’s scrimmage with the first goal of the night, courtesy of free agent Kassius Peters from the Whitby Wildcats. Peters’ quick snapshot found its way past Lindros’ netminder.
Team Lindros evened the score midway through the first period when Jonathon Pylypuik’s rebound tied the game with a bounce into the net.
The intensity picked up with Brady Blaseg’s end-to-end rush, culminating in a shot that Ethan Toms pounced on for a rebound goal.
Just before the 15-minute buzzer, Peters struck again for Team Orr with a wrist shot that rattled off two goalposts before finding the net. Meanwhile, Orr’s goaltender Owen MacLean had a solid first period, making eight saves while on the other end, Hayden Sabourin made 12.
Just 18 seconds into the second period, Oshawa Generals’ Caedan Heins capitalized on a rebound in front of Lindros’ net, making it 4-1.
Harrison Franssen of the Generals delivered a brilliant back-handed pass in the Lindros zone midway through the match, which Adam Culmone of the Mississauga Sens converted into a goal.
Moments later, Team Lindros answered when free agent Jordan Laroda battled for a shot, which tapped off Generals’ Shawn Costello and into the net.
The third frame came with a goalie change-up where Tim Dolan subbed in for Team Orr while Reed Straus controlled Team Lindros.
Generals’ Tristan Delisle was the lone scorer in the last period when he played a beautiful backhand to meet the mesh.
To finish off the game it was Peters once again with a hattrick to lead team Orr, 7-2.
