Generals fall short to Colts 5-4 in their first preseason event
Barrie, ON – The Oshawa Generals launched their preseason campaign on Saturday night in Barrie where the Colts took this win 5-4.
The Colts struck first when the Generals were short-handed due to a minor tripping penalty. Carter Lowe seized the opportunity, maneuvering into the slot and firing a precise shot past Noah Bender.
Shortly thereafter, another penalty put the Generals at a disadvantage, allowing Cole Beaudion of the Colts to notch an insurance goal.
With just a minute left in the first period, Ethan Toms narrowed Barrie’s lead with a sharp shot that got through Ben Hrebik. The Colts quickly responded, ending the period with a 3-1 advantage.
Two minutes into the second period, second-year forward Owen Griffin scored his first goal of the preseason with a wrap-around shot that found its way into the Barrie net, bringing the score to a tighter 3-2.
Matthew Buckley then delivered the equalizer for the Generals eight minutes into the second period, silencing the Sadlon Arena.
Midway through the second frame, the Colts regained the lead with another goal, but the Generals quickly responded. Ethan Toms netted his second goal of the game just seconds later, levelling the score at 4-4 as the teams headed into the third period.
Just under seven minutes in the third frame, Colt’s Shamar Moses snapped one off the faceoff for a 5-4 lead to finish off the game.
