Generals fall to Kitchener from a preseason shootout at home
Oshawa, Ont., – The Oshawa Generals have returned to the Tribute Communities Centre for the first time in the 2024/25 season as they fell to the Kitchener Rangers 4-3 in a shootout dropping their only home exhibition game.
Owen Griffin grabbed himself first star in the defeat scoring his third of the preseason, while Jacob Oster was in net stopping 37 of the 40 shots he faced.
Kitchener got things started in the first period when Trent Swick got the puck from Tanner Lam and found the back of the net giving the Rangers a 1-0 lead.
The Gens answered back late in the first when Tristan Delisle was able to even things up taking a pass from Tyler Graham tying things at 1-1.
Less than one minute into the third Lauri Sinivuori sprung Owen Griffin on a breakaway who went in all alone making no mistake giving Oshawa a 2-1 lead.
Kitchener tied things up before Shawn Costello scored on a broken play to put the Gens back in front, but the Rangers tied things up sending it to overtime.
In the shootout, it was a lot of saves before Luca Romano scored sending the fans home.
