Generals downed by 67’s in Home Opener
Oshawa, ON – The Oshawa Generals fell 4-3 in overtime to the Ottawa 67’s in overtime in the 2024/25 season Home Opener.
Matthew Buckley picked up the first star in the game, scoring twice in the defeat, while Jacob Oster stopped 37/41 shots he faced.
The Generals got the first goal at the Tribute Communities Centre. Oshawa strung a couple of passes together before Marrelli made a beautiful pass, finding Buckley on the backdoor to make it 1-0 Gens.
Later in the first, Oshawa would double their lead once again on a nice pass as Brooks Rogowski put it on Tristan Delisle’s stick, and the second-year centre tipped it past Jaeden Nelson, giving the Generals a 2-0 lead.
Ottawa opened the second period by cutting the lead in half when Will Gerrior took a wrist shot beat Oster, making it 2-1 Gens.
But in the last minute of the frame, the Generals were on the powerplay, and took advantage of some broken play. Griffin found Buckley, who buried his second of the game, restoring the Oshawa two-goal lead.
It was all Ottawa from there as the 67’s struck twice in the third period tying the game at 3-3 before Cooper Fosrter found the back of the net in overtime for his second of the game.
The Oshawa Generals return to home ice on Friday, October 4th, when they take on the Niagara IceDogs. Get your tickets here.
