Kingston, ON – <\/strong>The hockey world turns its attention to Buffalo, NY this weekend as the 2026 NHL Draft gets underway at KeyBank Center, and the Kingston Frontenacs should be well represented with a bevy of players eligible to hear their names called.<\/span><\/p>\n

Defenceman Andr\u00e9 Mondoux, goaltenders Matthew Minchak and Gavin Betts, forward Alex McLean and 2025 CHL Import Draft choice Adam Goljer have all put together impressive resumes and will look to take the next step in their hockey journeys as NHL clubs make their selections over the two-day event. The first round takes place Friday evening, with rounds two through seven set for Saturday.<\/span><\/p>\n

Andr\u00e9 Mondoux:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Andr\u00e9 Mondoux enjoyed a really strong season on the Kingston blue line, bringing a dependable, physical style of play and providing leadership throughout the year. Mondoux’s ability to play tough minutes, defend effectively, and contribute in all situations has made him a valuable asset for the Frontenacs and an appealing option for NHL organizations seeking a reliable defender.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Mondoux is a big bodied defender who was largely terrific for the Frontenacs this year. NHL teams are going to love the impact he has at shutting down the transition game of the opposition with his length, solid feet, and physical approach.” – Brock Otten, McKeen’s Hockey<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Mondoux is a re-entry candidate for this year’s draft after being passed over last season. Mondoux was a free agent invite to the Philadelphia Flyers rookie camp and put forth a strong enough performance to be invited back to main camp. The impressive showing from Mondoux kickstarted a strong campaign for the Sturgeon Falls native, and Mondoux will look to take another step back in Kingston next season.<\/span><\/p>\n

Matthew Minchak:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Goaltender Matthew Minchak also heads into Buffalo looking to take the next step in his hockey career. The young netminder continued his development this season, showing flashes of his potential and gaining valuable experience at the Ontario Hockey League level.<\/span><\/p>\n

“What a find Minchak was for the Frontenacs; a free agent signing out of the U.S AAA loop. I’ve made the comparison to former Soo Greyhound Matt Murray a few times this year and I think it’s apt. He could end up being a quality NHL netminding prospect.” – Brock Otten, McKeen’s Hockey<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Minchak was selected to Team East at the 2026 OHL Top Prospects Game with a strong first-half of the season. With size, athletic ability, and plenty of upside, Minchak remains an intriguing prospect as NHL clubs search for long-term projects in goal.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gavin Betts:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

After emerging as one of the OHL’s top goaltenders following a strong second-half of the year, Gavin Betts enters draft weekend following a breakout campaign in Kingston. The netminder showcased his athleticism, composure, and ability to deliver in key moments, becoming a dependable presence for the Frontenacs throughout the year and carrying his team down the stretch and into the playoffs.<\/span><\/p>\n

“In the second half of the season, Betts was one of the best goaltenders in the OHL in my opinion. It was a complete 180. The thing about Betts is that he’s so athletic and competitive. He’s truly never out of a play. His recovery ability and scramble abilities are great. His highlight package by the time he graduates from the OHL will be insane.” – Brock Otten, McKeen’s Hockey<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Betts’ consistency and competitiveness have helped elevate his draft stock, and his strong season has positioned him as one of the goaltenders to watch this weekend. The only downside against Betts, is his size. NHL scouts historically haven’t liked drafting goalies under 6’0”, but Betts’ compete and work-ethic will carry him a long way.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alex McLean:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Forward Alex McLean heads into draft weekend after continuing to showcase his offensive abilities and playmaking instincts. Possessing a strong skill set and a knack for creating scoring opportunities, McLean has demonstrated the tools that have attracted the attention of NHL scouts, especially after a midseason trade from Guelph to Kingston.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“McLean is a tireless worker who loves to push the pace. The trade to Kingston really helped his confidence as an on puck play driver. He proved to be especially deadly on the power play where his vision and high end sense were put on full display.” – Brock Otten, McKeen’s Hockey<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As he continues to round out his game, McLean’s offensive upside and hockey sense could make him an appealing late-round selection.<\/span><\/p>\n

Adam Goljer:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A draft choice in the 2025 CHL Import Draft, Adam Goljer quickly rose up the draft boards of scouts around the globe after a strong season with HK Dukla Trencin in Slovakia. Goljer was named the captain of Team Slovakia at the 2026 IIHF U18 Men’s World Championships and led the Slovakians to a silver medal, also being named Defenceman of the Tournament.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Combining mobility, poise with the puck, and a strong defensive stick, Goljer proved capable of playing in all situations while continuing to develop his offensive game.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Goljer is a well-rounded defensive prospect. He skates well, he works hard, breaks up a lot of plays and retrieves pucks effectively. He projects as a steady top-four defenceman who could provide value at both ends of the ice.” – Corey Pronman, The Athletic.<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Goljer’s combination of size, skating ability, and hockey IQ has made him an intriguing prospect heading into the draft, and his steady progression throughout the season has put him firmly on the radar of NHL scouts and is projected to go near the end of the first round and into the middle of the second round.<\/span><\/p>\n

Whether they hear their names called this weekend or continue their development with something to prove, all five players have already made significant strides in their hockey careers and played important roles in the Frontenacs’ success this season.<\/span><\/p>\n

For Mondoux, Minchak, Betts, McLean and Goljer the 2026 NHL Draft represents another milestone in their journeys; one that could see each of them take a major step toward achieving their dream of playing in the National Hockey League.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

Kingston, ON – <\/strong>The Kingston Frontenacs Hockey Club and General Manager Kory Cooper are happy to announce the signing of first round pick Logan Prud’homme to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Frontenacs used the 10th<\/sup> overall pick to select Logan in the 2026 OHL Priority Selection. The towering 6\u20197\u201d, 220 lbs. forward joins the Frontenacs from the Upper Canada College U16 AAA program. During the 2025-26 season, Prud’homme was a force to be reckoned with, producing stellar numbers across 69 games, scoring 44 goals and 52 assists for 96 points. He would go on to add an additional 5 goals and 3 assists at the 2026 OHL Cup.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Logan has the tools and the ability to be a difference maker in this league,” <\/strong><\/em>said General Manager Kory Cooper. “His size obviously stands out, but his vision, high IQ, and competitiveness are what really impress us. Off the ice, he possesses incredible character, strong work habits, and is very coachable; qualities that go a long way. We’re excited to add Logan and his family to the organization.”<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Ottawa, ON native was ranked 10th on the OHL\u2019s Consensus Ontario Top-100 rankings heading into the 2026 OHL Priority Selection. Frontenacs Head Scout Aaron Van Leusen had nothing but high praise for Prud’homme after the Frontenacs selected him on night one of the draft.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s rare you get a player with his combination of size, skill, and athleticism,\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>said<\/strong>\u00a0Van Leusen.\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cHe scored some big goals in big moments this year and we believe he has a very high ceiling. He\u2019s a player that has a lot of maturity and is a leader both on and off the ice. He doesn\u2019t rest on his talent and puts the work in to continually improve his game.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

When asked about what it means to join the Frontenacs, Prud’homme could hardly contain his excitement.<\/span><\/p>\n

“It’s awesome, I wanted to be in Kingston. I love it here; I’ve got a bunch of family here.” <\/strong><\/em>said Prud’homme. <\/strong>“A lot of people helped me get to this point. I’m super proud to make it official with the Frontenacs and I get wait to get started.”<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

After attending Development Camp this past weekend, Prud’homme is the first member of the 2026 Frontenacs draft class to sign his OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. Prud’homme will wear number 55 for the black and gold.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kingston, ON –\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>Before the 2026 OHL Priority Selection kicked off at Slush Puppie Place on June 12th, the OHL held league meetings with OHL business operations staff and recognized its 2025-26 Business Award winners celebrating outstanding achievement and innovation across a variety of business, community, retail, broadcast and fan engagement initiatives throughout the 2025-26 season. <\/span><\/p>\n

The awards recognize excellence both on the club level and across the league, highlighting organizations that have contributed to the continued growth and success of the OHL on and off the ice. <\/span>One of the first awards of the night recognized the Content Team of the Year, which was won by the Kingston Frontenacs.<\/span><\/p>\n

From the OHL press release: “Throughout<\/em><\/span> the season, the Frontenacs consistently delivered creative, detailed and authentic storytelling that helped fans connect with the players, coaches and personalities behind the team. From player features and alumni coverage to day-to-day team content, Kingston set a high standard for engagement, growth and consistency, helping strengthen the connection between the organization and its fanbase while establishing itself as one of the league\u2019s premier content operations.”<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Spearheaded by Manager of Digital Marketing & Brand Development, Spencer Loeb along with Coodinator of Communications & Videography, Jack Clark; the Frontenacs experienced significant growth across social media platforms and continued to push the boundaries on content this past season. By bringing the business operations and hockey operations teams closer together and earning the trust of one another there was plenty of doors open that were previously closed, allowing player driven content to shine through.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Getting hockey operations on board was huge for us. They realized that the ability to take the helmet off of our players is what builds that connection with our fans and builds the foundation,” <\/span><\/strong><\/em>said Spencer Loeb.\u00a0“You see it at every home game, every team event, every autograph signing. I always hear fans bringing up something they saw on our Instagram or X account and they want to talk about it with our players. Building that connection is something that is crucial to the success of any franchise.”<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The openess and honestly of Head Coach Troy Mann also attributes to the award, as you don’t see too many coaches around the junior ranks be as open as Mann, with his previous experience at the pro level having a lot to do with it. <\/span><\/p>\n

“Troy being as transparent as he is in his pre and post-game interviews is massive for us,” <\/span><\/strong><\/em>said Jack Clark. “When we film with Troy he always tells us to ask whatever we want, and he’s always comfortable answering whatever is in front of him. He realizes that honesty with the fan base goes a long way. If we have a tough loss where the effort maybe wasn’t there, he doesn’t hold back and he doesn’t hide from the cameras. He knows the fans deserve better and the coaching staff is always willing to help us out in any way possible. It goes a long way.”<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The award serves as a testament to the collaborative culture that has been built throughout the organization, with every department playing a role in helping tell the stories that make the Kingston Frontenacs more than just a hockey team.<\/span><\/p>\n

“It’s an honour to be recognized by the league, especially considering the incredible work being done by other teams across the OHL,” <\/span><\/strong><\/em>said Loeb.<\/span><\/strong> “This award belongs to everyone in our organization; from our players and coaches for trusting us and letting their personalities shine, to our business staff for always supporting new ideas, and our amazing content team that are a part of our game day staff and capture all of the magic of a home game in Kingston. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve built, but we’re even more excited about where we can take it next.”<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Following a successful 2026 OHL Priority Selection last weekend, it’s time to quickly shift attention to our annual Development Camp presented by Scotiabank this upcoming weekend on June 20-21 at INVISTA<\/strong> Centre<\/strong>, and will be free to attend. After ice issues at INVISTA Centre last weekend, the City of Kingston has assured the Frontenacs that the ice will be ready to go this weekend.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This will be the first time the Fronts Family gets to get a look at Logan Prud’Homme, Roman Vanacker, Shane Roche, Gavin Godick, and the rest of the 2026 Frontenacs draft class when they hit the ice for practice on Saturday, followed by a full scrimmage on Sunday morning.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Joining the fresh faces are the 2009-born group of Frontenacs that will lead the way for the new group of players coming in. Aleks Kulemin, Matthew Henderson, Nolan Snyder, Ty Robar, Dante D’Andrea, Royden Smith and newly acquired Gavin Christie will all be in attendance. Kingston, ON<\/strong> \u2013 The Kingston Frontenacs are excited to announce their full schedule for the 2026-27 Ontario Hockey League season, featuring 68 games packed with rivalries, marquee matchups, special events, and 34 exciting home games at Slush Puppie Place.<\/span><\/p>\n

Frontenacs fans can now begin planning for another thrilling season as Kingston looks to build on the momentum from a young team last year and continue its pursuit of OHL success.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thanks to Bath Public School for helping us with our schedule release video, we know that the schedule is highlighted by several key dates, including:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
