Whether it was contributing offensively, playing with energy, or embracing bigger responsibilities as the season progressed, the young forward continued to round out his game against some of the OHL\u2019s top competition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"697\" data-end=\"1012\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #333333\"><span style=\"color: #333333\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">McLean ended the season as the Frontenacs leader in points, collecting 11 goals and 34 assists for 45 points. <\/span><\/span>Like many of Kingston\u2019s younger players, McLean also gained his first taste of playoff hockey this spring as the Frontenacs battled the Ottawa 67\u2019s in a hard-fought first round series. While the results didn\u2019t fall Kingston\u2019s way, the experience proved invaluable for a young group determined to take the next step.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1237\" data-end=\"1470\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #333333\">Despite the early playoff exit, optimism remains high around the Frontenacs organization. establishing himself as a key piece of the club\u2019s forward group in 2025-26.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"224\" data-end=\"587\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #333333\">After arriving in Kingston as an import signing in the summer of 2025, Pobezal wasted little time adjusting to the Ontario Hockey League game. The Slovak native earned opportunities in a top line role early in the season, showcasing his offensive instincts and ability to play at pace alongside some of the team\u2019s top talent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"589\" data-end=\"1107\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #333333\">Over the course of the season, Pobezal produced, finishing among the team\u2019s top scorers. He recorded 17 goals and 39 points, while also contributing on special teams with power play production and timely scoring. His ability to generate offense in key moments was evident throughout the year, highlighted by performances like his goal during Kingston\u2019s come from behind win in Oshawa late in the season, and an incredible &#8216;Michigan&#8217; goal on the road in Saginaw after the trade deadline.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1109\" data-end=\"1443\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #333333\">Beyond the numbers, Pobezal\u2019s transition from playing professional hockey in Slovakia to the OHL stood out. Coming from HK Nitra and adapting to a new country, league, and style of play, he showed growth as the season progressed, becoming more comfortable and confident with each passing month. Pobezal was on Team Slovakia at the 2026 World Junior Hockey Championships alongside future teammate Alex Misiak, and came back like a man possessed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1445\" data-end=\"1727\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #333333\">Pobezal\u2019s first campaign in Kingston provided a strong foundation. The production, matched with Kulemin&#8217;s 6\u20192\u201d frame and physical play style, made the son of former NHLer Nikolai Kulemin a can\u2019t miss prospect.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;font-size: 12pt;color: #333333\">At perhaps the centre of the Frontenacs young core, Kulemin was a difference maker immediately for Kingston. Scoring his first career OHL goal just five games into the season, Kulemin would keep moving up the lineup as the season wore on. The Woodbridge native would go on to record 31 points in 57 games in his first season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><strong><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #333333\">\u201cI think I got better as the season went on, day by day, month by month,\u201d <\/span><\/strong><\/em><strong><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #333333\">said Kulemin.<\/span><\/strong><em><strong><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #333333\"> \u201cIt was a grind, especially in the playoffs, but you learn to cherish all the moments.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;font-size: 12pt;color: #333333\">Kulemin missed a handful of games this year to represent Team Canada White at the U-17 championship in Truro, Nova Scotia, along with fellow Frontenacs rookie Matthew Henderson. In five games wearing the red and white, Kulemin would score twice and add two helpers on his way to earning a silver medal at the tournament.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;font-size: 12pt;color: #333333\">As the OHL season progressed, Kulemin would consistently be handed more responsibilities and was a major factor in the organization&#8217;s decision to get younger at the trade deadline in January. After starting the season as the fourth-line centre, Kulemin and the \u2018kid line\u2019, which consisted of Kulemin, Robin Kuzma, and Nolan Snyder, were the go-to for Head Coach Troy Mann in key moments down the stretch of the regular season and into the playoffs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #333333\"><strong><em>\u201cIt means a lot, you know that\u2019s where you want to play, it\u2019s why you play this game\u201d<\/em> Kulemin told the Frontenacs media staff before heading home for the summer. <em>\u201cTo be out there with a minute left, taking O-zone draws, it was a huge moment for me.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;font-size: 12pt;color: #333333\">After receiving praise across the OHL for his play during his rookie season, number 41 for the Kingston Frontenacs will be seen as a game-breaker heading into the 2026-27 season and is likely to be a top prospect in next summer&#8217;s NHL draft.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #333333\">Don\u2019t miss your chance to see the next generation of Frontenacs hear their name called at the 2026 OHL Priority Selection, returning to an in-person format live in Kingston at Slush Puppie Place on June 12-13. It all started with the 37th overall selection in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection. With just 43 days left until the 2026 OHL Priority Selection draft kicks off in Kingston, let\u2019s take a look back at where it all started for number 43.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;font-size: 12pt;color: #333333\">Despite being a second round pick, Betts was the first goalie selected in 2024. He played his U16 season in the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) with the Mississauga Rebels U16 AAA team and while the young goalie was great all season, Betts especially stood out in the 2024 OHL Cup. Betts started five games for the Rebels, posting an impressive 2.18 GAA and a .915 SV%, all while facing the most shots of any goalie at the tournament.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #333333\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Betts spent the majority of his first junior hockey season with the Pickering Panthers of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL). Although he served as the backup on a veteran Panthers team, Betts posted a .920 SV% in 18 appearances with Pickering and, even better; a .945 SV% to go along with a 2.02 GAA in two playoff games. The 16-year-old goalie would make nine appearances with the Frontenacs during the 2024-25 season, showing flashes of brilliance, <\/span><a style=\"color: #333333\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BarDown\/status\/1888408457797128252\/video\/1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">including a highlight reel save against the Brampton Steelheads<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;font-size: 12pt;color: #333333\">Coming into the 2025-26 season, it was well established that Betts was the guy for the Frontenacs, and he did not disappoint. In 43 games this season, Betts posted a .905 SV% and a 2.81 GAA. He and Matthew Minchak combined to make goaltending a strength for Kingston all season long. Down the stretch, Betts needed to be good and once again delivered. In the final two months of the regular season, Betts took his game up a notch with a .917 SV%, winning five consecutive starts in March.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #333333\"><strong><em>\u201cAs the year went on, I think we really came together as a team\u201d<\/em> said Betts in his post-season exit interview with the Frontenacs. <em>\u201cIndividually, I know that really helped my performance a lot. As we started to click as a team, the results took care of themself.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;font-size: 12pt;color: #333333\">This offseason, Betts was called upon once again by Hockey Canada for the IIHF Men&#8217;s U18 World Championship in Slovakia, earning the starting role for the red and white. Although Canada bowed out of the tournament earlier than expected, Betts posted a ridiculous 1.07 GAA and a .947 SV% to go with two shutouts in his final showcase before he hopes to hear his name called in the 2026 NHL Draft in June.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #333333\"><strong>When asked about the NHL Draft this summer, Betts would go on to say, <em>\u201cIt\u2019s a childhood dream, I know it\u2019s a cliche, but it couldn\u2019t be closer to the truth. Williamson found himself on the third pairing on a deep Frontenacs team, collecting 27 points (2-25-27) over a full 68 game season. This past season the Ajax, ON native finished with 37 points (3-34-37) in another full 68 game season.
