Matt Minchak reflects on his 2025-26 season
It was a season of growth and resilience for Matt Minchak, who emerged as a steady presence between the pipes for Kingston. Signing as a relative unknown free agent over the summer, Minchak was thrust into key moments throughout the year. Minchak showcased his composure under pressure, often giving the Frontenacs a chance to win even when the odds were stacked against them. His ability to battle through traffic, make timely saves, and learn from each outing highlighted both his work ethic and potential.
While the results didn’t always tell the full story, the experience gained this season was crucial for Minchak. The Cranford, NJ native was named to Team East for the 2026 OHL Top Prospects Game back in January, and was ranked 11th among North American goaltenders in the NHL Central Scouting Midterm Rankings ahead of the 2026 NHL Draft.
