Kingston Frontenacs vs. Barrie Colts

The Kingston Frontenacs (38-20-4-1) won a big 9-3 game over the Barrie Colts (33-23-6-1) in the season-series finale on Friday night at Leon’s Centre in a potential playoff matchup squaring up the series at 2-2-0-0. First Star Martin Chromiak had four points, scoring a hattrick (3G,1A) on his 41st goal with second star Lucas Edmonds also adding four points (1G,3A). Captain Shane Wright (2G,1A) and Francesco Arcuri (2G) each recorded a pair of goals as the Frontenacs took over sole possession of third place in the East Conference. Third star Duncan Schneider recorded his first career OHL points with a pair of assists joining Jordan Frasca (3A), Tommy Budnick (2A), and Zayde Wisdom (1G,1A) as four of eight multi-point Fronts scorers.
Chromiak joined Jordan Frasca giving Kingston its first season with two 40-goal scorers since the 1994-95 season (Ling and Kilger). Chromiak also registered his 80th point which gave Kingston its first 80-point quartet since 1997-98 (Chaulk, Mailloux, Allen, Bradley).
Leevi Merilainen made his 51st appearance for the Fronts making 25 saves on 28 shots. Barrie countered with Matteo Lalama who stopped 19 Kingston 26 shots before being pulled in favor of Nolan Chartrand in the third who made six of eight saves.

Kingston Frontenacs at Mississauga Steelheads
Final: KGN 7-5 MISS

The Kingston Frontenacs (39-20-4-1) took a big step in home ice advantage for the playoffs, winning 7-5 over the Mississauga Steelheads (36-23-2-6) ensuring no worse than third place in the heavily contested Eastern Conference. The Frontenacs scored four unanswered goals in the third for the win at Paramount Fine Foods Centre on Saturday afternoon in the regular season series-finale between the two teams. The win gave the Fronts a 6-1-1-0 record in the eight games. First star Alec Bélanger scored his first career hattrick, Martin Chromiak (2G,1A) remained red hot with a pair of goal and Lucas Edmonds moved into a tie for third overall in OHL points with a second straight four-point game (1G,3A). Captain Shane Wright had three points for a second consecutive game.
Leevi Merilainen made his 52nd appearance for Kingston making 29 saves on 34 shots for his 30th victory. Roman Basran got the call for the Steelheads allowing six goals on 30 shots.

Kingston Frontenacs at Niagara IceDogs

The Kingston Frontenacs (40-20-4-1) wrapped up a three-game in three-day stretch with a 10-5 win over the Niagara IceDogs (22-40-3-1) at Meridian Centre on Sunday afternoon giving the Black and Gold their third 40-win season since 1989-90. Rookie Paul Ludwinski (3G,1A) registered his first career hattrick earning first star, Martin Chromiak extended a goal streak to eight games and second star Francesco Arcuri had four points (2G,2A) as Kingston boasted six multi-point scorers. Zayde Wisdom extended to a 10-game point streak with three assists and Shane Wright extended a four-game point streak (1G,2A).
The four game season series concluded with Kingston having a 4-0-0-0 record over Niagara and giving Kingston its third straight win scoring 26 goals in the process.
Kingston rookie goaltender Aidan Spooner started for fourth time versus Niagara making 27 saves on 32 IceDog shots earning his 10th win in his 17th appearance. Niagara countered with Josh Rosenzweig, who stopped 22 shots before being pulled. Joseph Costanzo came into the game to start the third making 16 of 19 saves.
