Frontenacs close out three-in-three against Rangers
Kitchener, ON – The Kingston Frontenacs will wrap up their first three-in-three weekend of the 2026-27 season on Sunday evening when they visit the Kitchener Rangers at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium for a 6:00PM puck drop.
Sunday’s matchup marks Kingston’s third game in as many days following Friday’s 5-3 loss to the Sarnia Sting and Saturday night’s contest against the Brantford Bulldogs.
The Frontenacs need to end the weekend on a high note and leave Kitchener with two points after a pair of games they’d like to forget. Going 2-0 in the opening weekend of action is now a distant memory, and the Fronts need a win to stay above .500 on the young season. The black and gold will now face a Rangers team coming off an overtime victory in Erie on Saturday night.
Kitchener split its opening weekend with the Owen Sound Attack, with each team winning on the road, before dropping a pair of one-goal decisions to the Erie Otters. The Rangers finally picked up their second win of the season Saturday night, rallying from a 3-1 deficit before Tanner Lam scored the overtime winner in a 4-3 victory over the Otters.
The Rangers will be looking to carry that momentum into their first home game since opening night, while Kingston will be looking to close out its busy weekend on a strong note and salvage two points.
Sunday’s contest will also feature a blast from the past for Kitchener fans, as the Rangers will debut their iconic Tex alternate jersey. The throwback look, which features the classic cowboy Tex crest used by the club from 1992 to 1995, will make its return to the ice for the first of seven games this season.
Players to Watch:
Kingston: Nolan Snyder
Snyder has been one of Kingston’s offensive catalysts through the opening week of the season. The sophomore forward has already found the back of the net in his first two games and entered the weekend leading the Frontenacs in scoring. Playing alongside fellow sophomores Robin Kuzma and Aleks Kulemin, Snyder has helped form the newly dubbed “Sophomore Line” and will look to continue that chemistry against the Rangers.
Kitchener: Tanner Lam
Lam enters Sunday’s matchup as one of Kitchener’s early-season offensive leaders. The forward scored twice in the Rangers’ opening two games before adding the overtime winner against Erie on Saturday night, giving him three goals through the club’s first four games.
Sunday’s matchup is the first of two meetings between Kingston and Kitchener during the regular season. The Rangers will return to Kingston on February 12, with the Frontenacs looking to earn a pair of points in the first meeting of the season between the two clubs.
