FLINT \u2013 <\/strong>The Flint Firebirds announced on Thursday that the team has signed forward native Cooper Williams to a Standard Player Agreement.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am super excited for this year with the Firebirds,\u201d Williams said. \u201cI can\u2019t wait to start this season, for me nothing beats playing close to home as well. This should be an awesome year.\u201d<\/p>\n

A native of Pinckney, Mich., Williams split the 2025-26 season between the NAHL\u2019s Bismarck Bobcats and the USHL\u2019s Lincoln Stars. Over 37 games for Bismarck he had 31 goals and 23 assists. He then tallied six goals and three assists in 22 games played for Lincoln and added two goals and two assists in seven postseason games.<\/p>\n

Prior to his time in junior hockey, Williams played for both the Compuware and Honeybaked AAA programs in Metro Detroit. He is committed to play NCAA hockey at Lake Superior State University.<\/p>\n

FLINT \u2013 <\/strong>The Flint Firebirds announced on Wednesday that they have acquired forward Simon Belohorsky from the Guelph Storm in exchange for two OHL Priority Selection draft picks.<\/p>\n

Belohorsky played 34 games for Guelph during the 2025-26 season and netted nine goals along with four assists. The native of Czechia was originally selected by Guelph in the second round of the 2025 CHL Import Draft and represented his home nation at the 2026 IIHF U18 World Championship, where he had three goals in six games. Belohorsky will be eligible for the 2026 NHL Draft.<\/p>\n

The Firebirds are sending a 2027 eighth round pick and a 2028 fifth round pick to the Storm in exchange for Belohorsky.<\/p>\n

FLINT \u2013<\/strong> The Flint Firebirds made two picks at the 2026 Under-18 Priority Selection on Monday night. Flint took defenseman Matthew Pittman with the 15th<\/sup> overall pick and forward Quinn Young with the 35th overall pick.<\/p>\n

Pittman spent the 2025-26 season playing for the Don Mills Flyers U18 AAA in the GTHL. The 6\u20195, 225 Toronto native had four goals and eight assists over 32 games played for Don Mills. Young played for the Upper Canada Cyclones U18 AAA in the HEO in 2026-27. A Greely, Ontario native, Young had 26 goals and 31 assists in 30 games.<\/p>\n

The U18 Priority selection was developed in 2017 to assist the growth of U18 AAA hockey and provide further opportunities for players at different stages of their hockey development. All U18 players not currently on a CHL Member Team Protected List who were carded with an Ontario-based U18 AAA Hockey Club or an accredited Hockey Canada sport school in the 2025-26 playing season were eligible for the U18 Priority Selection.<\/p>\n

He played one game for Flint during the 2025-26 season and spent the bulk of the year in the OJHL with the Leamington Flyers, the Firebirds\u2019 affiliate. Lappalainen totaled 14 goals and 21 assists over 49 games played for Leamington.<\/p>\n

Flint will receive the Niagara IceDogs\u2019 2029 second round pick in exchange for Lappalainen.<\/p>\n

Komadoski was originally signed by the Firebirds as a free agent in June of 2025. He went on to play 50 games as a rookie for the Birds during the 2025-26 season and recorded three assists. The St. Louis, Missouri native has announced a verbal commitment to play NCAA D1 hockey at Notre Dame University.<\/p>\n

Flint is receiving the Saginaw Spirit\u2019s 2027 third round pick in exchange for Komadoski. The Firebirds organization wishes Komadoski the best of luck in his new opportunity with the Bulldogs.<\/p>\n

CHL teams are each allowed to carry three import players on their roster, a rule that was expanded from two players beginning in the 2025-26 season. Urban Podrekar, who was also an overager and is no longer eligible to play in the OHL, Darels Uljanskis, who has announced a commitment to play NCAA D1 hockey at St. Cloud State University, and Ihnat Pazii, who has announced a commitment to play NCAA D1 hockey at St. Lawrence University.<\/p>\n

Aspinall registered 33 goals and 61 assists over 65 games played during the 2025-26 season. His 61 assists set a new Firebirds franchise record, and his 94 points were the second-most in the OHL. He chipped in with an additional 10 goals and seven assists over eight postseason games. Aspinall was named Flint\u2019s captain during the preseason and was signed to an NHL entry-level contract by the New York Rangers in October.<\/p>\n

The 6\u20197 winger was also named a finalist for the Red Tilson Trophy, which is given annually to the OHL\u2019s most outstanding player, and for the Mickey Renaud Captain\u2019s Trophy, which awarded annually to the OHL team captain that best exemplifies leadership on and off the ice as well as hard work, passion and a dedication to the game of hockey and their community.<\/p>\n

Aspinall led the Firebirds to new franchise records in points (95) and wins (44) during the 2025-26 season. He is joined on the first all-star team by Sam O\u2019Reilly of the Kitchener Rangers (C), Nikita Klepov of the Saginaw Spirit (RW), Kashawn Aitcheson of the Barrie Colts (D), Chase Reid of the Soo Greyhounds (D) and Ryder Fetterolf of the Ottawa 67\u2019s (G). Bennett joins the Firebirds after spending the past two seasons with the Attack. In 33 games during his OHL career, Bennett is 10-14-1-1 with a 3.69 goals against average and a .901 save percentage. He played in 27 games for Owen Sound during the 2025-26 season and was 9-10-1-1 with a 3.93 GAA and .896 save percentage. Bennett was selected by the New Jersey Devils in the fourth round of the 2025 NHL Draft.<\/p>\n

Flint is sending the Sudbury Wolves\u2019 2026 third round pick, the Oshawa Generals\u2019 2029 fifth round pick, its own 2029 sixth round and the Attack\u2019s 2028 15th<\/sup> round pick to Owen Sound in the deal. Candidates are reviewed and narrowed down via a panel of accredited media.<\/p>\n

With Aspinall as captain, the Firebirds set new franchise records in points (95) and wins (44) during the 2025-26 season. They swept the Owen Sound Attack in the first round of the 2026 OHL Playoffs before ultimately falling to the Windsor Spitfires in the second round.<\/p>\n
