Firebirds Announce New Home for Audio Broadcasts
FLINT – The Flint Firebirds announced on Wednesday that Firebirds audio broadcasts will air on Mixlr for the 2026-27 season. New play-by-play voice Matt Merrifield will provide live-game coverage all season long, with pregame, intermission, and postgame shows for all 68 regular-season games.
You will be able to listen to every Firebirds game, home and away, for free at Flint-Firebirds.mixlr.com or on the Mixlr App, which is available for download on Google Play or the Apple App Store, allowing fans to listen on the go (search Flint Firebirds on the Mixlr App). Each game will be available to listen to without logging in; however, fans can create an account and follow the team to be notified when the broadcast goes live. Recordings of all games will be archived immediately on the Firebirds’ Mixlr page, which also has the schedule of upcoming games.
All broadcasts will begin 15 minutes before puck drop with the Firebirds Pregame Show driven by Shea Automotive, followed by live play-by-play of all the action from the voice of the Firebirds, Matt Merrifield, and coverage continues postgame following the final horn with the Firebirds Postgame Show.
The Firebirds’ regular season begins on Saturday, Sept. 19 in Saginaw against the Spirit. Flint’s home opener is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26 against the Niagara IceDogs. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. at the Dort Financial Center. Tickets for the home opener and all Firebirds home games are available now at Etix.com.
