A Familiar Rivalry Renewed<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

The Colts and Bulldogs split their season series 2\u20132, highlighting how evenly matched the two sides have been all year. Now, as round three begins, both teams enter the Eastern Conference Final expecting the intensity and compete level to reach another gear.<\/p>\n

Brantford, the OHL\u2019s regular-season champions, bring structure, depth, and consistency into the matchup, while Barrie counters with speed, resilience, and a playoff-tested identity that has carried them through two rounds.<\/p>\n

One of the defining stories of Barrie\u2019s postseason has been the play of forward Cole Beaudoin<\/strong><\/em>, who has recorded a point in all 10 playoff games and currently leads all OHL postseason scorers with seven goals and 16 assists for 23 points<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Barrie Colts delivered a resilient and mature performance on home ice, defeating the Ottawa 67\u2019s 4\u20131 in Game 5 to close out the series and punch their ticket to the Eastern Conference Final.<\/p>\n

Despite being outshot 34\u201325, Barrie leaned on timely scoring, key defensive plays, and an outstanding performance from goaltender Ben Hrebik to secure the win in front of a packed home crowd.<\/p>\n

Ottawa came out with urgency, applying early pressure and controlling much of the pace in the opening period. Hrebik was tested often, turning aside quality chances\u2014including a key sequence on the penalty kill and a dangerous odd-man rush\u2014keeping the game scoreless through the early stages. The Colts weathered the storm and struck first at 13:25, when Cole Beaudoin found space and fired home his sixth of the postseason off a setup from Cole Emerton and Mason Zebeski. The goal shifted momentum after a strong push from Ottawa, sending Barrie into the intermission with a 1\u20130 lead despite being outshot 15\u20139.<\/p>\n

The second period opened with end-to-end action, but Ottawa continued to dictate possession for stretches, forcing Barrie to defend. Hrebik remained steady, while key defensive efforts\u2014including shot blocks from Carter Lowe and Zebeski, along with a strong backcheck from Emil Hemming\u2014helped preserve the lead. Midway through the frame, the Colts capitalized on one of their chances. Hemming battled along the boards and fed Beaudoin in front, who buried his second of the night and seventh of the playoffs at 13:36. The goal stood as the game-winner and gave Barrie a crucial cushion.<\/p>\n

Ottawa answered late in the period, capitalizing on a breakdown to cut the lead to 2\u20131, and carried momentum into the third after continuing to outshoot Barrie.<\/p>\n

In the final frame, the 67\u2019s pushed hard for the equalizer, controlling possession and generating sustained pressure. Hrebik stood tall, making composed and timely saves to hold off the Ottawa attack as the Colts looked to regain their footing.<\/p>\n

The turning point came on a critical power play midway through the third. With momentum tilted in Ottawa\u2019s favour, Kashawn Aitcheson stepped into a one-timer and blasted home his third of the postseason at 12:59, restoring Barrie\u2019s two-goal lead. Following a lengthy review, the goal stood, deflating Ottawa and swinging momentum firmly back to the Colts.<\/p>\n

Barrie continued to press on the man advantage, with Aitcheson generating multiple looks, before sealing the game late. With Ottawa\u2019s net empty, Hemming raced onto a loose puck and buried his eighth of the playoffs to secure the 4\u20131 final.<\/p>\n

From start to finish, the Colts showcased a complete team effort\u2014highlighted by physical play from Aitcheson, key defensive contributions throughout the lineup, and clutch scoring when it mattered most. At the centre of it all was Hrebik, who turned aside 33 of 34 shots in a calm and controlled performance, backstopping Barrie through heavy pressure.<\/p>\n

With the win, the Colts close out the series on home ice and now shift their focus to the Eastern Conference Final.<\/p>\n

Forward Ben Wilmott<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em> tops the list for Barrie, coming in at 71st among North American skaters. His ranking reflects a strong, well-rounded season in which he showcased his ability to impact the game in all situations.<\/p>\n

Known for his high motor and offensive instincts, Wilmott consistently generated scoring chances while maintaining a reliable two-way presence. The Barrie Colts earned a hard-fought 3\u20132 victory over the Ottawa 67\u2019s on the road in Game 4, extending their momentum in the series with a composed and complete effort.<\/p>\n

Barrie opened the scoring in the first period, as Carter Lowe<\/strong><\/em> found the back of the net to give the Colts an early lead.<\/p>\n

The Colts doubled their lead in the second period, with Emil Hemming<\/em><\/strong> lighting the lamp off a well-executed sequence. Cole Beaudoin and Mason Zebeski picked up the assists, as Barrie continued to apply pressure and control the pace of the game.<\/p>\n

Early in the third period, Joe Salandra<\/strong> <\/em>extended the Colts\u2019 lead to three, capitalizing on his opportunity with a timely finish. Calvin Crombie recorded the assist, adding to Barrie\u2019s balanced offensive production.<\/p>\n

Ottawa responded with urgency late in the game, scoring twice to cut the deficit to one and create a tense finish. Despite the push, the Colts remained composed defensively and closed out the game to secure the 3\u20132 win.<\/p>\n

Barrie outshot Ottawa 43\u201335 on the night, showcasing a consistent offensive presence while receiving key stops when it mattered most.<\/p>\n

The Barrie Colts Hockey Club is proud to announce the signing of defenceman Aiden Mowrey <\/strong><\/em>to an Ontario Hockey Leauge Player Agreement.<\/p>\n

Mowrey, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound right-shot blueliner, joins the Colts from the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 18U AAA program. Born July 2, 2009, in Wexford, Pennsylvania, the 16-year-old brings a strong physical presence and high-end defensive upside to Barrie\u2019s back end.<\/p>\n

Mowrey is a player the organization is excited to add to its group. He possesses great size, skates well for a defenceman of his stature, and competes hard in all three zones. His game is expected to continue to develop within the Colts\u2019 environment, with the tools to make an immediate impact.<\/p>\n

He has developed within one of the top Tier I programs in the United States, consistently facing elite competition at the 18U level. His combination of height, mobility, and right-handed shot adds valuable depth to the Colts\u2019 defensive core.<\/p>\n

The Barrie Colts continue to build toward the future with the addition of Mowrey, further strengthening their roster with size, skill, and compete level on the back end.<\/p>\n

The Barrie Colts delivered a composed and resilient effort on home ice Saturday night, defeating the Ottawa 67\u2019s 5\u20133 in Game Two to take a commanding 2\u20130 lead in their Round Two series.<\/p>\n

Barrie weathered early pressure from Ottawa before settling into a structured opening period. After a steady start from both sides, it was the Colts who struck first midway through the frame. Following a strong defensive play from Keyshawn Aitcheson to force a turnover, Cole Beaudoin capitalized on a breakaway opportunity, slipping a backhand shot through the five-hole to give Barrie a 1\u20130 lead.<\/p>\n

Ottawa responded with a fortunate bounce on a two-on-one rush to even the score at 1\u20131, but the story of the opening period quickly became Colts goaltender Ben Hrebik. The netminder delivered multiple highlight-reel saves, including back-to-back stops in tight and a sprawling effort to deny a rebound chance in the crease, keeping the game level through 20 minutes.<\/p>\n
