Hrebik was tested often, turning aside quality chances—including a key sequence on the penalty kill and a dangerous odd-man rush—keeping the game scoreless through the early stages. The Colts weathered the storm and struck first at 13:25, when Cole Beaudoin found space and fired home his sixth of the postseason off a setup from Cole Emerton and Mason Zebeski. The goal shifted momentum after a strong push from Ottawa, sending Barrie into the intermission with a 1–0 lead despite being outshot 15–9.

The second period opened with end-to-end action, but Ottawa continued to dictate possession for stretches, forcing Barrie to defend. Hrebik remained steady, while key defensive efforts—including shot blocks from Carter Lowe and Zebeski, along with a strong backcheck from Emil Hemming—helped preserve the lead. Midway through the frame, the Colts capitalized on one of their chances. Hemming battled along the boards and fed Beaudoin in front, who buried his second of the night and seventh of the playoffs at 13:36. The goal stood as the game-winner and gave Barrie a crucial cushion.

Ottawa answered late in the period, capitalizing on a breakdown to cut the lead to 2–1, and carried momentum into the third after continuing to outshoot Barrie.

In the final frame, the 67’s pushed hard for the equalizer, controlling possession and generating sustained pressure. Hrebik stood tall, making composed and timely saves to hold off the Ottawa attack as the Colts looked to regain their footing.

The turning point came on a critical power play midway through the third. With momentum tilted in Ottawa’s favour, Kashawn Aitcheson stepped into a one-timer and blasted home his third of the postseason at 12:59, restoring Barrie’s two-goal lead. Following a lengthy review, the goal stood, deflating Ottawa and swinging momentum firmly back to the Colts.

Barrie continued to press on the man advantage, with Aitcheson generating multiple looks, before sealing the game late. With Ottawa’s net empty, Hemming raced onto a loose puck and buried his eighth of the playoffs to secure the 4–1 final.

From start to finish, the Colts showcased a complete team effort—highlighted by physical play from Aitcheson, key defensive contributions throughout the lineup, and clutch scoring when it mattered most. At the centre of it all was Hrebik, who turned aside 33 of 34 shots in a calm and controlled performance, backstopping Barrie through heavy pressure.

With the win, the Colts close out the series on home ice and now shift their focus to the Eastern Conference Final.

The Barrie Colts delivered a composed and resilient effort on home ice Saturday night, defeating the Ottawa 67’s 5–3 in Game Two to take a commanding 2–0 lead in their Round Two series.

Barrie weathered early pressure from Ottawa before settling into a structured opening period. After a steady start from both sides, it was the Colts who struck first midway through the frame. Following a strong defensive play from Keyshawn Aitcheson to force a turnover, Cole Beaudoin capitalized on a breakaway opportunity, slipping a backhand shot through the five-hole to give Barrie a 1–0 lead.

Ottawa responded with a fortunate bounce on a two-on-one rush to even the score at 1–1, but the story of the opening period quickly became Colts goaltender Ben Hrebik. The netminder delivered multiple highlight-reel saves, including back-to-back stops in tight and a sprawling effort to deny a rebound chance in the crease, keeping the game level through 20 minutes.

The second period saw the pace intensify, with Ottawa briefly taking their first lead of the series early in the frame. Barrie answered quickly. After a strong individual effort from Dalyn Zebeski to drive the net, Calvin Crombie buried the rebound to tie the game 2–2.

Special teams proved pivotal as the period progressed. On the power play, the Colts regained the lead with a well-executed passing sequence, as Carter Lowe redirected a shot-pass into the net to make it 3–2. Barrie’s penalty kill also stood tall, turning aside multiple Ottawa opportunities while Hrebik continued to anchor the defensive effort.

Carrying a one-goal lead into the third, the Colts took control of the game. Emil Hemming extended the advantage early in the period with a quick release from a sharp angle that caught Ottawa’s goaltender off guard. Moments later, Barrie capitalized again on the power play, with a point shot finding its way through traffic and being redirected home to give the Colts a 5–2 cushion.

From there, Barrie locked the game down with a disciplined, physical approach. Aitcheson continued to set the tone with his presence along the boards, while the Colts limited Ottawa’s ability to generate sustained offensive pressure.

Ottawa would add a late goal and push with the net empty, but Barrie remained composed in the closing minutes. Hrebik made several key stops down the stretch, and the Colts held on to secure the 5–3 victory.

With contributions throughout the lineup and another strong performance in goal, Barrie now heads on the road with full momentum and a 2–0 series lead.

The Colts will look to carry that consistency into Game Three as they aim to tighten their grip on the series.

<iframe loading="lazy" title="Ottawa 67's at Barrie Just 33 seconds into the game, a crisp passing sequence between Mason Zebeski, Cole Beaudoin, and Emil Hemming led to the game’s opening goal. Hemming found Zebeski in stride, and he made no mistake, giving the Colts an early 1–0 lead.

The Colts continued to push early, generating multiple scoring chances in the opening minutes while maintaining strong offensive pressure. After successfully killing off Ottawa’s first power play—highlighted by a steady play from goaltender Ben Hrebik, who cleared the puck the length of the ice himself—Barrie capitalized on their own opportunity.

On the power play, Hemming fired a cross-ice pass to Kashawn Aitcheson, who blasted a one-timer past goaltender Collin MacKenzie Fetterolf to double the lead. The Colts carried that momentum through the remainder of the period, combining physical play with sustained offensive zone time to take a 2–0 lead into the first intermission while outshooting Ottawa 12–8.

The second period saw continued pressure from Barrie, with all four lines contributing. Hrebik remained sharp early, turning aside a breakaway chance just 25 seconds into the frame. The Colts controlled much of the play, creating multiple high-quality opportunities, but Fetterolf stood tall to keep Ottawa within reach.

The 67’s cut the lead to 2–1 on a power-play goal from Luca Pinelli midway through the period, but Barrie responded quickly. Evan Passmore activated from the point and found Ben Wilmott wide open at the back door, where he restored the two-goal lead with a composed finish.

Hrebik came up with several key saves late in the period, including back-to-back stops in the final seconds, preserving the Colts’ 3–1 advantage heading into the third.

Tempers flared at the end of the second, as Aitcheson was the recipient of a dangerous spear, resulting in a major penalty to Ottawa to begin the final frame.

Barrie capitalized early in the third period. With the man advantage, Beaudoin set up Hemming, who ripped a one-timer top shelf to extend the lead to 4–1.

Despite the deficit, Ottawa continued to push and eventually cut the lead to 4–2 midway through the period. However, the Colts tightened defensively down the stretch, limiting quality chances and maintaining control of the game.

Ottawa pulled their goaltender late in an attempt to mount a comeback, but Barrie held firm to secure the 4–2 victory.

The Colts and 67’s finished even in shots at 34 apiece, but Barrie’s efficiency and structure proved to be the difference. Hrebik delivered a composed performance between the pipes, while contributions throughout the lineup highlighted a complete team effort.

The Colts take a 1–0 series lead and will look to carry that momentum into Game 2 this Saturday at Sadlon Arena.

Get your tickets here

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dM1eI8_M_Uc[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

The Barrie Colts open Round Two with a 4–2 win over the Ottawa 67’s, backed by a fast start, special teams success, and a composed effort from Ben Hrebik in net.

[751
["post-31947","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-article","tag-ohl-playoffs-2026","tag-ben-wilmott","tag-mason-zebeski","tag-emil-hemming","tag-ben-hrebik","tag-barrie-colts","tag-cole-beaudoin","tag-evan-passmore","tag-kashawn-aitcheson","tag-ottawa-67s","tag-round-2","category-751","description-off

https://media.chl.ca/wp-content/uploads/sites/13/2026/04/10004858/GM1.png",1440,770,false
["GET
