The Barrie Colts Hockey Club is proud to announce that forward Cole Beaudoin<\/strong><\/em> has been named one of three finalists for the 2025\u201326 Red Tilson Trophy, awarded annually to the most outstanding player in the Ontario Hockey League.<\/p>\n

Beaudoin, a cornerstone of the Colts\u2019 lineup throughout his OHL career, delivered a dominant campaign in 2025\u201326, producing 33 goals and 56 assists for 89 points in 54 games<\/strong>, while averaging 1.65 points per game<\/strong>. The 6\u20192\u201d centre consistently anchored Barrie\u2019s top lines with a rare combination of pace, structure, and reliability in all three zones.<\/p>\n

Since joining the Barrie Colts, Beaudoin has established himself as one of the premier two-way centres in the Ontario Hockey League. Over the course of his tenure with the club, he has been a driving force in every situation\u2014power play, penalty kill, late-game defensive matchups, and key offensive moments\u2014earning the trust of coaches and teammates alike as a dependable, high-impact presence down the middle.<\/p>\n

A first-round selection of the Utah Mammoth<\/strong><\/em>, Beaudoin\u2019s game continued to evolve this season as he elevated his offensive production while maintaining elite defensive responsibility. He finished the year tied for the OHL lead in game-winning goals with 10, further underscoring his ability to deliver in critical moments.<\/p>\n

Beyond the scoresheet, Beaudoin\u2019s impact was recognized league-wide. He was named the OHL\u2019s Most Sportsmanlike Player, recipient of the William Hanley Trophy, and earned multiple distinctions in the Eastern Conference Coaches Poll, including recognition as one of the league\u2019s top defensive forwards, faceoff specialists, penalty killers, and hardest-working players.<\/p>\n

Internationally, Beaudoin also represented Canada\u2019s National Junior Team, continuing to build a r\u00e9sum\u00e9 that reflects his status as one of the most complete forwards in Canadian junior hockey.<\/p>\n

The Red Tilson Trophy is voted on by members of the Ontario Hockey Writers\u2019 Association and is awarded to the player deemed most outstanding in the Ontario Hockey League during the regular season.<\/p>\n

The Barrie Colts Hockey Club is proud to announce the signing of forward Rocco Olek<\/strong><\/em> to an Ontario Hockey League Scholarship and Development Agreement.<\/p>\n

A native of Ashburn, Virginia, Olek brings a notable physical presence to the Colts\u2019 lineup at 6-foot-3 and 183 pounds. The right-shot forward joins Barrie following a strong season with the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite program, where he continued to develop and compete against top-tier talent.<\/p>\n

In 48 games during the 2025\u201326 season, Olek recorded 12 goals and 24 assists for 36 points, demonstrating his ability to produce offensively while maintaining a responsible, two-way presence. His blend of size, skill, and hockey IQ allows him to be effective in all three zones, while his compete level and consistent work ethic have been key to his progression.<\/p>\n

The Barrie Colts opened the Eastern Conference Final with a hard-fought Game 1 matchup against the Brantford Bulldogs at the TD Civic Centre, ultimately coming up just short in a back-and-forth contest that featured a strong late push from Barrie.<\/p>\n

Brantford struck first early in the second period, as Jake O\u2019Brien capitalized on the power play to give the Bulldogs a 1\u20130 lead. The Colts responded shortly after, with Carter Lowe<\/strong><\/em> finding the back of the net off a setup from Justin Handsor and William Schneid to even the score and shift momentum.<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs regained control late in the second period, with Caleb Malhotra restoring the lead before adding his second of the night early in the third to extend Brantford\u2019s advantage.<\/p>\n

Barrie responded with urgency midway through the final frame. Cole Beaudoin<\/strong><\/em> brought the Colts back within one, finishing off a strong sequence to spark the comeback. Just minutes later, Kashawn Aitcheson<\/strong> <\/em>buried the equalizer off a feed from Mason Zebeski and Emil Hemming, making the game tied at 3-3.<\/p>\n

Despite the Colts\u2019 resilience and third-period surge, the Bulldogs answered late to reclaim the lead and secure the Game 1 victory.<\/p>\n

Barrie will look to carry that late-game momentum into Game 2 as they aim to even the series back in Brantford on Friday,<\/p>\n

The Barrie Colts are proud to announce that defenceman Kashawn Aitcheson<\/strong><\/em> has been named a finalist for the\u00a0Defenceman of the Year Award<\/strong>, as announced today by the Ontario Hockey League<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Aitcheson\u2019s selection comes on the heels of a remarkable 2025-26 campaign, where the Colts co-captain solidified himself as one of the premier defencemen in junior hockey. In 56 games, the Barrie Colts<\/span><\/span> standout recorded 28 goals and 42 assists for 70 points\u2014establishing new franchise records for a defenceman. He led all OHL blueliners in scoring while also registering a league-high six game-winning goals among defencemen and finishing with a plus-46 rating, second-best across the league.<\/p>\n

Known for his complete, hard-nosed game, Aitcheson also topped the OHL Coaches Poll in four categories: best shot, hardest shot, best bodychecker, and best offensive defenceman. He was named OHL Defenceman of the Month in both January and February, further underscoring his consistency and impact throughout the season.<\/p>\n

Beyond the numbers, Aitcheson\u2019s journey with the Colts reflects steady development into an elite player and leader. Originally signing with Barrie on August 31, 2022, he began his OHL career during the 2022\u201323 season, appearing in 23 games and recording his first career point – an assist against the Sudbury Wolves<\/span><\/span> on December 11, 2022. He took a significant step forward in 2023\u201324, registering 8 goals and 31 assists for 39 points across 64 games, before elevating his game even further the following season. In 2024\u201325, Aitcheson posted 26 goals and 33 assists for 59 points in 64 games, setting the stage for his continued development.<\/p>\n

A first-round selection of the New York Islanders<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em> in 2025, Aitcheson has continued to elevate his game and establish himself as one of the OHL\u2019s premier defencemen. Serving as co-captain this season, Aitcheson has led the Colts with maturity, accountability, and a team-first mindset. His leadership by example\u2014both on and off the ice\u2014has been instrumental in shaping the team\u2019s identity and success.<\/p>\n

The Barrie Colts are proud to announce that General Manager Marty Williamson<\/span><\/span> <\/strong><\/em>has been named a finalist for the Ontario Hockey League\u2019s Jim Gregory<\/strong> General Manager of the Year Award<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

In his first season fully dedicated to his role as Vice President and General Manager, Williamson guided the Colts to one of the strongest campaigns in franchise history. Barrie posted an impressive 45-14-5-4 record, finishing with 99 points to capture its second consecutive Central Division title. The Colts finished 19 points ahead of the second-place North Bay Battalion, further cementing their status as one of the Ontario Hockey League\u2019s top programs this season.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A defining factor in Barrie\u2019s success was Williamson\u2019s work at the OHL trade deadline, where he added key veteran pieces to strengthen the roster for a deep playoff push. The Colts acquired forwards Parker von Richter<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em> and Mason Zebeski<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em> from the Brampton <\/span><\/span>Steelheads<\/span><\/span>, along with forward Ben Wilmott<\/span><\/span> <\/strong><\/em>from the London Knights<\/span><\/span>. Those additions complemented an already strong core and helped elevate the Colts into one of the league\u2019s most complete teams down the stretch.<\/p>\n

Barrie\u2019s success this season was defined by consistency and structure. The Colts led the Ontario Hockey League with 24 road victories and posted a remarkable 31-1-1-1 record when scoring first, showcasing their ability to control games from start to finish. The foundation of that success has been built through key personnel decisions under Williamson\u2019s leadership, including cornerstone players Cole Beaudoin<\/span><\/span>, Kashawn Aitcheson<\/span><\/span>, <\/strong><\/em>and Emil Hemming<\/span><\/span>.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Williamson\u2019s impact on the organization spans nearly two decades and multiple eras in the organization. Originally joining the club for the 2004\u201305 season, he spent six seasons behind the bench before returning in 2021\u201322 in a dual head coach and general manager role. Across his tenure in Barrie, he has led the team to sustained success, including Central Division titles in 2006\u201307, 2009\u201310, and 2024\u201325, as well as an Eastern Conference Championship in 2009\u201310. A record-setting figure in franchise and league history, Williamson surpassed 306 career wins with the Colts on February 25, 2023, becoming the franchise\u2019s all-time wins leader behind the bench in franchise history. He also reached several major Ontario Hockey League milestones, earning his 500th career win on November 19, 2022, coaching his 1,000th OHL game on February 9, 2024, and surpassing 600 career wins during the 2024\u201325 season.<\/p>\n

The Barrie Colts delivered a resilient and mature performance on home ice, defeating the Ottawa 67\u2019s 4\u20131 in Game 5 to close out the series and punch their ticket to the Eastern Conference Final.<\/p>\n

Despite being outshot 34\u201325, Barrie leaned on timely scoring, key defensive plays, and an outstanding performance from goaltender Ben Hrebik to secure the win in front of a packed home crowd.<\/p>\n

Ottawa came out with urgency, applying early pressure and controlling much of the pace in the opening period. Hrebik was tested often, turning aside quality chances\u2014including a key sequence on the penalty kill and a dangerous odd-man rush\u2014keeping the game scoreless through the early stages. The Colts weathered the storm and struck first at 13:25, when Cole Beaudoin found space and fired home his sixth of the postseason off a setup from Cole Emerton and Mason Zebeski. The goal shifted momentum after a strong push from Ottawa, sending Barrie into the intermission with a 1\u20130 lead despite being outshot 15\u20139.<\/p>\n

The second period opened with end-to-end action, but Ottawa continued to dictate possession for stretches, forcing Barrie to defend. Hrebik remained steady, while key defensive efforts\u2014including shot blocks from Carter Lowe and Zebeski, along with a strong backcheck from Emil Hemming\u2014helped preserve the lead. Midway through the frame, the Colts capitalized on one of their chances. Hemming battled along the boards and fed Beaudoin in front, who buried his second of the night and seventh of the playoffs at 13:36. The goal stood as the game-winner and gave Barrie a crucial cushion.<\/p>\n

Ottawa answered late in the period, capitalizing on a breakdown to cut the lead to 2\u20131, and carried momentum into the third after continuing to outshoot Barrie.<\/p>\n

In the final frame, the 67\u2019s pushed hard for the equalizer, controlling possession and generating sustained pressure. Hrebik stood tall, making composed and timely saves to hold off the Ottawa attack as the Colts looked to regain their footing.<\/p>\n

The turning point came on a critical power play midway through the third. With momentum tilted in Ottawa\u2019s favour, Kashawn Aitcheson stepped into a one-timer and blasted home his third of the postseason at 12:59, restoring Barrie\u2019s two-goal lead. Following a lengthy review, the goal stood, deflating Ottawa and swinging momentum firmly back to the Colts.<\/p>\n

Barrie continued to press on the man advantage, with Aitcheson generating multiple looks, before sealing the game late. With Ottawa\u2019s net empty, Hemming raced onto a loose puck and buried his eighth of the playoffs to secure the 4\u20131 final.<\/p>\n

From start to finish, the Colts showcased a complete team effort\u2014highlighted by physical play from Aitcheson, key defensive contributions throughout the lineup, and clutch scoring when it mattered most. The Barrie Colts earned a hard-fought 3\u20132 victory over the Ottawa 67\u2019s on the road in Game 4, extending their momentum in the series with a composed and complete effort.<\/p>\n

Barrie opened the scoring in the first period, as Carter Lowe<\/strong><\/em> found the back of the net to give the Colts an early lead.<\/p>\n

The Colts doubled their lead in the second period, with Emil Hemming<\/em><\/strong> lighting the lamp off a well-executed sequence. Cole Beaudoin and Mason Zebeski picked up the assists, as Barrie continued to apply pressure and control the pace of the game.<\/p>\n

Early in the third period, Joe Salandra<\/strong> <\/em>extended the Colts\u2019 lead to three, capitalizing on his opportunity with a timely finish. Calvin Crombie recorded the assist, adding to Barrie\u2019s balanced offensive production.<\/p>\n
