Sept. 28/24 vs North Bay – Highlights & Recap
The home opener saw the Colts dawn their 30th anniversary jerseys for the first time this season at Sadlon Arena. A rather uneventful first period saw the Colts stave off a 5-minute major after Riley Patterson was ejected from the game for a slew-footing major just two minutes in. The period’s only goal was scored by the Battalion with 11:57 remaining in the first frame. After the first, the Colts trailed the Battalion in total shots 12 to 9 and faced a 1-0 deficit.
What was turning into a goalie battle would continue despite the many Colts fans awaiting an end to the offensive lull. The second period remained equally uneventful as both teams mustered just 12 total shots, failing to score on all of them.
Kashawn Aitcheson ended the scoring drought and would tie the game at one on a feed from Emil Hemming. With the goal, the 2025 draft-eligible Aitcheson has registered a goal in each of the first two games this season. The Battalion would respond with less than 5 minutes remaining in the game to regain the lead. North Bay scored on the Colts’ empty net shortly after to wrap this one up before scoring again 22 seconds later. The Battalion and Colts don’t meet again until December 28th, when North Bay returns to Sadlon Arena following the Christmas break.
