Sept. 27/24 at Sudbury: Highlights & Recap
The Barrie Colts played spoiler as they left Sudbury with the road victory in the season opener!
The first period saw the two Central Division rivals deadlocked with no goals. The Colts would finish the opening frame with seven shots and three minor penalties.
Sudbury would open the scoring 5:30 into the second. The Colts would strike back on the man-advantage with Kashawn Aitcheson scoring the Colts’ first goal of the 2024-25 season. This goal marked back-to-back years that Aitcheson would do so. Off-season acquisition, Tristan Bertucci grabbed the primary assist and Bode Stewart collected the secondary. Third-year forward, Carter Lowe won the net front battle and netted the eventual game-winner 17:30 into the second period. Grayson Tiller and Emil Hemming would grab the assists, the assist marked Hemming’s first OHL career point.
Headed into the third period with a 2-1 lead, an unlikely defenceman stepped up for the Colts in helping to secure the victory. Second-year defenceman, Evan Passmore snuck down after the faceoff and found the open corner short side. This goal marked Evan Passmore’s first career OHL tally.
The Colts would go on to earn the 3-1 victory to open the 2024-25 season. The Colts outshot the Wolves 32-22, Sam Hillebrandt picked up his 17th career win after returning from the Philadelphia Flyers camp. Bode Stewart earned the first star of the game with Sam Hillebrandt earning third star.
The Colts jump quickly back into it on Saturday night at Sadlon Arena for the home opener. Puck drop is expected to be shortly after 7:30 once home opener introductions are completed. Click here for tickets.
